 Today’s concern over exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays and the increasing awareness of skin cancer has led to a greater demand and use of Bleacher Shade Covers. These covers utilize the best in modern technology to protect people from ultraviolet rays and potential skin cancer. This is due to the netting factor of the cover fabric that allows hot air to escape and reduces temperatures underneath. This temperature benefit does not exist with wood or metal shade structures. Actually, metal and other hard-material shade structures can build up heat underneath. Another added benefit is that the Bleacher Shade Covers actually reduce the deterioration rate of plastics and powder-coat finishes of the bleachers and structures they are shading. This benefit will add extra years to the lifespan of the equipment being shaded. In a sense, the shade covers are paying for themselves by extending the life of other equipment.
Our Bleacher Shade Covers feature removable covers with a telescoping Turbo-Top® mechanism. This mechanism enables the facility manager a quick release and reinstallation of the cover when necessary. If the facility is in a hurricane prone area then this feature is very useful.
It is very easy to clean our Bleacher Shade Covers. Our cover fabric is made from high density Polyethylene (HDPE) and is resistant to dirt, does not retain moisture, and it will not rot or mildew. However, over time exposure to dust and moisture will result in a slightly dirty cover. This type of fabric can be cleaned with a weak concentration of non-abrasive pH neutral detergent in warm water. However, a better cleaning method is to remove the fabric and place it on a clean, flat surface. Then wash it with a high pressure water washer. It will look almost new after this cleaning.
One of the most frequent questions we receive is “How durable are your Bleacher Shade Covers and structures?” Very durable is the answer. The steel columns and frames that support the cover are warranted for 20 years. They are welded at the factory to be watertight and then a powder coat finish is applied to prevent corrosion. The cover fabric is warranted for 10 years against ultraviolet light degradation. And if necessary, the fabric can be easily repaired. All components are designed to withstand 3-second wind gusts of at least 80 miles per hour with the shade cover fabric attached. Our Bleacher Shade Covers comply with the California Building Code, which is the world's toughest. In addition, our shade systems are approved by GSA for use by the United States government.
