Combination Granite and Stainless Steel Partitions are made from some of the most durable materials in the world, granite and stainless steel.  These partitions are resistant to stains and scratches.  They are vandal resistant. Granite is world renown for its natural stone beauty, hardness and durability.  It is a perfect material to include in our Combination Granite and Stainless Steel Partitions. Although common and widely available, granite is a product of extreme geological pressures. The basic ingredients for granite, a very hard natural igneous rock, are plagioclase feldspar, potassium feldspar, and quartz. “True” granite must have its ingredients mixed in the correct proportions and under the correct circumstances underneath the earth’s crust. Otherwise, the resulting rock will not have the same properties as “true” granite.  The most valued properties of granite are its hardness and durability.  It is frequently used in building construction and for monuments.  In building construction it is used for floors, walls, countertops, walkways, partitions, and other uses. Granite should be cleaned with a very mild soap such as Ivory® dish soap and water. Harsh cleaners and ammonia cleaners should be avoided because they can discolor granite or create permanent streaking. Light surface scratches on granite can usually be buffed-out with dry steel wool.

Our Combination Granite and Stainless Steel Partitions use a high quality stainless steel that will last decades. Stainless steel is a grade of steel that contains more than 10% chromium. Other metals can be included in the stainless steel to give it various properties.  The most common of these added metals are nickel, titanium, and molybdenum.  The most common types of stainless steel are referred to as Type 304, Type 316, Type 409, Type 410, and Type 430. Type 304 stainless steel contains a higher percentage of chromium and some nickel which enables it to resist most chemicals and most ordinary corrosion. It is used in food processing environments, plumbing, and the manufacture of sinks and kitchen utensils. Type 316 stainless steel is similar to Type 304 but it contains some molybdenum.  Type 316 has greater resistance to corrosion and chemicals and has similar applications to Type 304. Type 409 stainless steel contains the least amount of chromium and very little or no nickel.  It is primarly used in high temperature applications such as exhaust systems or hot water tank systems. Type 410 stainless steel is very similar to Type 409 but it is subjected to heat treatment for hardening and strengthening. Type 410 is not appropriate for highly corrosive applications but is better suited for high strength applications such as surgical equipment.  Type 430 stainless steel is also similar to Type 409 and it is used for decorative applications.
