Hands Free Bathroom Equipment

Hands-Free-Bathroom-EquipmentHands Free Bathroom Equipment is now the standard and users are demanding it. Building managers and owners who wish to have the most modern and most desirable restrooms are demanding touchless bathroom equipment. There are a number of reasons for this trend and the leading reason is the desire to eliminate cross-contamination between users. Another reason is the goal of providing ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant equipment for all users.  Reliable and automated equipment that eliminates cross-contamination will enhance any restroom’s overall image.  And a business that provides a clean, hygienic restroom will attract more patrons than those that do not.

Aerix Volume Control Hand Dryer - Sensor OperatedSome of the most common Hands Free Bathroom Equipment fixtures on the market are touchless faucets.  Faucets that can dispense water without touching are far more desired than any “old” style that requires multiple users to touch the levers. These faucets completely eliminate the need to touch any part of the fixture by using infrared technology to activate water flow.  The temperature of the exiting water can be automated also.  In conjunction with touchless faucets, there are also touchless soap dispensers on the market.  Like the faucets mentioned earlier, all the user has to do is hold his / her hand under the dispenser to receive a “shot” of liquid soap, foam, gel, or alcohol sanitizer. This new type of soap dispenser has become a necessity in institutions where cross-contamination is a concern such as day care centers, schools, hospitals, food service businesses, and nursing homes.

Hands Free Bathroom Equipment also includes paper product dispensers.  ThereLiquid are various models on the market for dispensing toilet paper or paper towels.  Some models are very simple and have been on the market for a number of years such as the multifold paper towel dispenser.  When a user pulls out one folded paper towel from this dispenser the folded towel “pulls” the next paper towel into view at the bottom of the dispenser.  This is a very simple technology but other models are a bit more modern and use infrared technology to detect a hand and dispense one paper towel with a simple electric motor.  Many of the toilet paper dispensers are “roll-out” or “pull-down” models which require simple manual operation by the user.  The key with these models is that the user is only touching the toilet paper that he / she is going to use.

Touchless Bathroom Equipment also includes automatic flushing urinals and toilets.  In the past users would often encounter unflushed urinals and toilets because the previous user did not want to touch the flush handle. And the reaction was / is always the same – “YUK.”  Now that problem is in the past with the new technology.  Urinals and toilets use sensing equipment to detect the presence of a user and when the user leaves the area the equipment will flush itself.  This is one of the more important developments in the area of Hands Free Bathroom Equipment – cross-contamination is eliminated and all of the toilets and urinals are flushed.

Sensor Activated Towel DispenserA very new area of Hands Free Bathroom Equipment is the cleaning or self-cleaning fixture. Some concepts have been around for a number of years such as sanitary and cleaning additives in the toilet tank.  These products reduce or eliminate build-up of hard water and uric acid in the toilet bowl and are often colored for the benefit of the user.  These products enhance the cleanliness and image of any restroom.  And one of the newest touchless bathroom equipment fixtures is the toilet seat sanitizer.  Usually it is a small dispenser in the toilet stall that sprays an alcohol based solution on a wad of toilet paper held by the user.  The user can then use the alcohol soaked toilet paper to wipe the toilet seat clean and minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
