Our Heated Portable Pressurized Eyewash Units offer instant relief for eye emergencies where a plumbed water supply is not available. Companies that must comply with OSHA regulations can rest assured that our line of eyewash units is the correct solution for approved emergency eyewash stations in the workplace. They provide superior eye protection for workers on the job and all of our models meet or exceed ANSI standard Z358.1-2004 (except 5-gallon units).  All eyewash units prevent freezing of the water down to -10 degrees F.  In addition, these units have a secondary thermostat with a manual reset that prevents over heating of the water.  Portable eyewash units are applicable and widely used in safety and rescue vehicles and for use at accident scenes. Our Heated Portable Pressurized Eyewash Units are available in 5, 10 and 15 gallon capacities with heater jackets.  The stainless steel tank has both a pressure gauge and automatic relief valve to prevent over-pressurization. Our Heated Portable Pressurized Eyewash Units are a supplemental solution.  They provide emergency protection in locations where a permanent water supply is not readily available. They have a limited amount of water that will last approximately 15 minutes depending on the size of the pressurized tank.  The general requirement for facilities for the emergency flushing of the eyes and body with water is found in OSHA / ANSI code of regulations that state "where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials."

There are other requirements or specifications for our Heated Portable Pressurized Eyewash Units.  They must be located within ten seconds of walking distance of the potential hazard (approximately 55 feet).  The path to the eyewash station must be clear of obstructions and well lit in a visible area.  There must be an easily recognizable sign indicating “Eyewash Station.” The flushing fluid or water must be at a lukewarm or tepid temperature.  The eyewash unit must be able to provide 15 minutes of continuous flow of flushing fluid or water.  The eyewash unit must have an activation mechanism that requires only a single motion in one second or less.  Once the unit is activated, the exit valves must remain open without any additional requirement or effort from the user. The eyewash unit must be located on the same level as the potential hazard. 

The employer has several maintenance responsibilities including periodic cleansing and maintenance of all portable and plumbed eyewash units.  All plumbed eyewash stations are required to be flushed on a weekly basis to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other contaminants.  Portable eyewash units must be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions which are usually every 120 days. Employers must also train all employees that are working with potentially hazardous materials in the use of the eyewash stations.  If an employer is found to be in non-compliance of required OSHA regulations and ANSI standards with respect to eyewash stations then the employer is subject to serious penalties and fines.
