Our Horizontal Frame Bleachers provide spectators with comfortable and secure seating for all types of events.  Our Horizontal Beam and Leg Truss designs are versatile and permanent solutions for bleachers and grandstands.

Do you know the difference between grandstands and bleachers?  In general, any raised, tiered stand used for viewing sports or other events is a bleacher(s).  A bleacher becomes a grandstand when it incorporates VIP seats.

Do you know how “bleachers” became a word to describe a raised, tiered stand used for viewing sports or other events?  Usually bleachers are built without any roof and are therefore uncovered and unprotected from the sun.  Therefore the raised and tiered stands were subject to “bleaching” from the sun.  In addition, the people sitting in the bleachers were also exposed to the solar rays and they confided that they felt “bleached” by the sun while sitting in the bleachers.  In the early 1900s the word “bleachers” was used to describe both the physical seating structure as well as the people sitting on them.  However, in today’s usage the “bleachers” refers to the physical seating area.  The people sitting in the bleachers are usually referred to as “bleacher fans” or “bleacher bums.”

Most modern outdoor bleachers and grandstands are built using one of two structural methods.  Most smaller bleachers use an H-Frame (Horizontal Beam) method of construction using aluminum tube or steel angle for the understructure.  Many in the industry consider the Horizontal Beam to be the  most versatile galvanized steel substructure in the industry.  Most larger bleachers utilize the I-beam method of construction using steel I-Beams for the understructure.

H-Frame or Horizontal Beam Bleachers consist of long rows of benches with each row sitting higher than it predecessor.  Each row has a matching “step area” which is where the occupants walk to reach their seat. Usually they are constructed of either aluminum or steel.  Their sizes range from small, modular bleacher stands that can “tip-and-roll” or be easily moved to various locations to large permanent bleachers that surround an American football field.

H-Frame or Horizontal Frame Bleachers are basically hollow underneath.  Often the designers will build locker rooms, gyms, storage, concessions, meeting

rooms, secure passageways, or other facilities in these hollow areas to take advantage of the unused space.

Let’s take a look at some bleacher terms so you are better able to evaluate your options.  "Non-Elevated Bleachers" is a type of bleacher that when a person is seated on the first row, his feet are at ground level.  “Elevated Bleachers” is a type of bleacher that when a person is seated on the first row, his feet are at the height of the elevated front walkway.  Elevated Bleachers are built with entry stairs and a guardrail in the front.  “Low-Rise Bleachers” are designed to provide more bleacher seats at an economical price while meeting most building codes for bleachers without an aisle or rear guardrail.  “Low-Rise Bleachers” generally have a first seat height under 12 inches and a 6 inch rise per row.  Rise is the term used to describe the vertical measure from the top of one bleacher seat to the top of the bleacher seat in the next row.

Our bleachers and grandstands deliver long life, low maintenance, and a great visitor experience.  We build the steel substructures of permanent stadiums and grandstands with a Horizontal Beam that insures strength and stability for many years.   Your clients may be high schools or public parks or NASCAR tracks and they will all benefit from our Bleacher and grandstand products.
