OurRod Bench is a heavy duty bench that is both attractive and extremely durable.  It gets its name from the 1/2 inch steel rods that are welded to the frame to form the back and seat of the bench. The steel rods also give the bench an artistic style that appeals to many users.  It is an “open” bench in that it has no armrests, making entry and exit a bit easier. It is very versatile and can be found in parks, country clubs, tennis courts, convention centers, residential homes, and other locations.

The Rod Bench can be ordered in custom lengths.  However the standard lengths are four feet and six feet. The four foot version weighs two hundred and ten pounds while the six foot version weighs two hundred and fifty-four pounds.  The bench has legs with pre-drilled mounting holes and a tough thermoplastic coating that is available in sixteen colors.  The available colors are black, red, orange, yellow, green, bk-green, teal, blue, navy, purple, burgundy, brown, beige, sandstone, gray, and granite. This wide selection of colors gives the buyer a great deal of flexibility in matching the benches with the surrounding environment.

The Rod Bench can be mounted in one of three manners.  The simplest, portable mounting, is used when the bench will be moved on a regular basis.  Actually the bench is not mounted or attached to any surface. The bench will simply rest on a flat surface. The second mounting method, surface mounting, is commonly used on a flat, concrete surface when the desire is to have the bench placed in a permanent or semi-permanent location. Holes are drilled into the concrete and anchors are installed inside the holes.  Then the bench can be bolted to the anchors and firmly positioned in a single location.  If necessary the bolts can be removed and the bench moved but the holes and anchors in the concrete will remain.  The third mounting option is the in-ground mount. This is commonly used in outdoor locations when the bench is to be located on grass or soil.  Leg extensions can be welded or bolted to the legs of the bench. These eighteen inch extensions will then be placed in holes in the ground and then filled with wet concrete.  After the concrete dries, the bench is permanently located and it would be very difficult to move the bench.

The Rod Bench is covered with a thermoplastic coating that is rugged, durable, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.  The thermoplastic coating, also known as powder coating, is a more advanced and superior coating than those of the past such as paint. The dry powder is applied to the metal with an electrical process whereby the powder and the metal are given opposite electrical charges.  This creates a very strong bond between the powder and the metal. After the powder is applied the object is then heated to “melt” the plastic or plastic-epoxy coating. The powder forms a very strong and very durable plastic coating that covers all of the exposed metal.  The powder coating can be applied in thicker coatings than conventional paint or other materials.  The powder coating will not peel, sag, run, warp or discolor for the life of the product. It protects the metal from rust, corrosion, and the outdoor elements.  It is easy to clean and is virtually maintenance free.  Any spray paint that is applied by vandals can be easily removed with cleaners because the spray paint has poor adhesion to the thermoplastic. In addition, any cuts or damage to the thermoplastic coating can be easily repaired with an industrial heat gun.  The affected area is heated and the coating will melt and rebind itself. The Rod Bench will have a longevity of decades under normal use thanks to its durable design and materials.
