Shower wall panels are preassembled, individual shower units that surface mount to the wall. Each unit requires its own individual water supply. Both standard and special ADA compliant models are available. These showers add value to any public or private shower room, be it a separate facility or a shower section within a restroom, locker room, or changing room.
Individual wall showers offer a significant advantage over group showers because they are built with integral plumbing. It is never necessary to plumb inside the wall, so these units are ideal for reconstructions, renovations, and remodel additions to any existing facility.
ADA shower wall panels can be installed either to comply with regulations that stipulate accessibility for public facilities, or they can be added as a courtesy to make the facility more conscientiously accessible to disabled persons. This proves especially advantageous when an organization suddenly realizes that they need to do more to accommodate wheelchair bound users and are faced with the problematic of expansion and remodeling. With preassembled units that can be surface mounted to alcoves, corners, or between barrier free partition configurations, upgrading the facility for accessibility is quick, convenient, and cost effective.
ADA units feature a pivoting head attached to a hose that can be gripped and maneuvered at will. These units are typically combined with shower seats and grab bars in order to make the experience as comfortable as possible for a user in a wheelchair.
There are a wide range of facility types that invest in shower wall panels. Public parks often find them the most economical of showers to install in campground facilities. Spas often install them in locker room or restroom areas to provide an additional level of comfort to member guests. Truck stops can also install them in restrooms, regardless of the facility size, to provide drivers with a place to wash up before driving on to their next destinations. Many detention facilities also mount them in certain holding cells. Athletic facilities will install them in shower rooms, locker rooms, or restrooms, depending on available wall space.
Individual shower units are intended to create not only total comfort for a user, but also total privacy. Shower stall partitions are manufactured from the same materials as toilet partitions, but they are larger in size. The clearance between partition walls and the floor is much smaller, creating a more secluded enclosure for the user. The front of the partition can be fitted with a no site partition door of equivalent size to the partition. This door will close with no gap between the pilaster edge and the edge of the door. ADA units can be fitted with door latches or handles that require less than five pounds of force to operate.
For facilities on a budget, shower wall panels can also be fitted with shower curtains that span the width of the stall. Stalls can also be built using curved shower rods that attach to the wall on either side of the shower head and extend outward in an arc around it.
