Our U-Leg Perforated Roll Form Bench is one of our most popular models because of its distinctive U-shaped legs. The upper portion of the legs also serve as arms for the bench. These benches always seem to grab the attention of young and old alike. People love to sit and rest a while on these attractive park benches. They are commonly found in park areas, convention centers, gardens, pedestrian areas, and residential decks.
The U-Leg Perforated Roll Form Bench derives its name from its design and manufacturing process. “U-leg” is a description of the shape of the legs while “roll form” is the manufacturing method used to shape the perforated steel used for the seat and back. The perforated steel is eleven gauge with 1/2 inch holes on staggered centers 1 inch apart. The legs are constructed from three inch tubular eleven gauge steel. Metal discs are welded to the bottom of each leg and holes are pre-drilled for easy mounting. There are three standard bench lengths of four, six, and eight feet. Overall this bench is simple but elegant and very durable.
The U-Leg Perforated Roll Form Bench can be mounted in a variety of ways depending on the desire of the owner. The simplest mounting method is the placement of the bench on a surface without any form of attachment to the ground. This is called a portable mount and obviously it would be very easy to move the bench if desired. Another mounting method called surface mount is very popular when the owner desires a semi-permanent location for the bench. Usually the surface mount is used on concrete surfaces and holes are drilled into the concrete. Anchors are then installed inside the holes. The bottom of the bench legs can then be bolted to the embedded anchors. When the bench owner wants a permanent and theft-deterrent mounting in an outdoor location then an in-ground mount would be selected. Leg extensions would be acquired and attached to the standard legs by welding or bolting. These leg extensions would then fit into excavated holes in the soil and wet concrete would be poured into the hole.
A protective thermoplastic coating is applied to every U-Leg Perforated Roll Form Bench. This coating is also called a powder coating and it is environmentally safe with little or no hazardous waste created. It has significant advantages over earlier coatings and paints that were used in the past. The coating is applied in an electrical process whereby the metal object and the dry powder coating are given opposite electrical charges. When the dry powder coating is applied it forms a very strong bond with the metal. It is then “baked” so that it will melt slightly and form a “skin” that will protect the metal from rust and corrosion. This plastic or plastic-epoxy coating is very durable and will not crack or peel. In addition, it is relatively easy to repair if it is damaged or cut. An industrial heat gun is used to apply some heat and the coating will melt slightly and rebind itself. Usually the repaired area is virtually undetectable. An added bonus with a thermoplastic coating is that if vandalized with spray paint it is easy to clean. This is because spray paint has a very poor adhesion with thermoplastic coatings.
The U-Leg Perforated Roll Form Bench is an attractive addition to any indoor or outdoor setting. It is easy to match one of the available colors with any color scheme. The available colors are black, red, orange, yellow, green, bk-green, teal, blue, navy, purple, burgundy, brown, beige, sandstone, gray, and granite.
