Hotel Restroom Design

April 27th, 2011 by

Commercial restroom supplies for hotel restrooms have to show a higher grade appearance than those used in many other businesses. People who visit the hotel will form an opinion of its quality based on what they see in the bathroom. This may not seem fair, but people do this, so it is wise to invest generously in designing a facility that is top of the line and beyond reproach.

Commercial toilet partitions for hotel restrooms should also be able to take the heavy usage of large number of people coming in and out of the restroom. Not only are there lots of guests in any hotel, but there are also conventions going on in hotels, along with people who just walk in off the street to use the restroom. Partitions have to be touch to withstand all the opening, closing, and occasional abuse they experience.

Commercial lavatories in hotels need to provide water to multiple users without wasting water. The best ones now are infrared sensor controlled. This touch free functionality prevents water waste and vandalism (there is no faucet handle for a kid to turn on and leave on. Sensor controls can also tell if a person is washing hands or putting a foreign object under the faucet. The water shuts off after 45 minutes so there is no chance of continuous, wasteful flow. There are also flow control modulators to ensure only water that is needed is used when washing hands.

Like toilet dividers, hotel restroom lavatories need to look really good. The whole china bowl thing is passé. The most popular material now is Terreon®. Terreon® looks like stone, but it is actually a synthesized material that is mass produced for high end restrooms and industrial environments.

Terreon® sinks represent the highest level of practical sophistication in restroom design. They are super hard, vandal resistant, will last for years, and they look as good as they work. The chic, deep bowl designs every bit as practical as they are aesthetic. These bowl designs actually prevent water overflow during times of heavy use and heavy cleaning. This keeps floor areas safer under the lavatory and contributes greatly to restroom décor and sanitation.

Hand dryers are recommended for all new hotel restrooms. We are not insisting that all hotels abandon paper towels if they still have clients that want paper towels. However, providing clients with a much greener, and ultimately more cost effective alternative, is a great way to transition to a more paperless environment in the future.

Dressing Room Design

April 26th, 2011 by

Showers should accommodate as many users as possible while still providing privacy to individual users. Column showers are the best showers to use for dressing room design. They draw from a single water source and distribute it to multiple users.

Column showers are most commonly installed along the wall, where each column feeds several shower heads that are divided by privacy partitions.

There are exceptions to this in larger dressing rooms, however. Some column showers are also installed in the center of the room, where a pipe under the floor feeds the shower faucets. Privacy can also be installed in this configuration just as they can be with the wall mounted configuration.

Lockers for dressing room design should feature dry, wrinkle free storage and security. There are a number of designer locker styles that feature all three of these attributes. Locker selection depends upon the type of clothing worn to the dressing room. People coming in with suits and nice dresses need a design with hooks that can hang the clothing.

They will also need some extra space and shelving for shoes and personal items. People who are wearing more casual clothes that they feel comfortable folding neatly can use smaller individual locker units. Laminate coating on the lockers keeps their contents dry. Lockers also feature reliable security as well. All can be fitted with padlocks or combination locks.

Designer lockers for dressing room design are also very attractive additions to any interior design. Their efficient utilization of space prevents them from dominating the field of vision. They also come in six different colors that make it easy for architects to match the lockers to the surrounding room layout.

Dressing room designs with built-in restrooms can maximize their space utilization with a wide range of commercial bathroom toilet partitions. Some dressing rooms may have more room than others. Some may have limited wall space, whereas others may be undergoing a remodel. For each and every one of these project types, there is a toilet partition mounting style that will meet the particular needs of the room. Examples include, but are not limited to, floor mounted, ceiling hung, floor to ceiling mounted, and wall mounted.

Plastic or phenolic core partitions are recommended for dressing room design. Plastic and phenolic are both very durable surface materials built to withstand the heavy traffic seen in most changing rooms. Also, if there are showers in the room, plastic and phenolic are nonabsorbent materials that will moisture, bacteria, mold, and mildew. Not only will they last for years, but they are easy and cost effective to clean.

Church Restrooms

April 25th, 2011 by
Share

Bathroom partitions for church restrooms accommodate the demands of assemblies of all sizes.

Smaller churches on very limited budgets can invest in attractive baked enamel partitions. These partitions are easy to clean and go with most typical interior design themes of smaller restrooms.

Mid-sized churches can invest in plastic partitions which are also easy to clean, and which will endure high traffic for many years.

The largest mega-churches now are investing in phenolic core and stainless steel because these materials are highly sanitary, very low-maintenance and vandal resistant as well.

Bathroom partitions for church restrooms can also be mounted in many different ways to accommodate different sized facilities. These styles include wall mount, floor to ceiling mount, and floor mounted, among others.

Hand dryers are recommended for a number of reasons. Paper towel waste is a sanitation issue. There is never any guarantee that a trashcan will not overflow. Church restrooms also experience very heavy traffic from children. Children do not always behave in church, so paper towels wind up on the floor because kids play with them.

Church cleaning crews are not likely to find paper towel overflow until long after it has littered the floor. It will remain there for hours and make a very bad impression on visitors.

Even if none of these things happen, paper towels are still an enormous cost to even a small church. Hand dryers eliminate both the litter problem and the constant cost of repurchasing paper towels. Most dryers now work as well as any paper towel ever did. They are also energy efficient in many cases and will save electricity.

Because any church restroom is a high traffic area, bathroom mirrors need to be durable and easy to clean. We recommend that all mirrors be framed with stainless steel. Framing and backing a mirror with stainless steel prevents peeling of reflective material. It also helps protect the mirror against accidental impact or vandalism.

Grab bars are recommended for all bathroom stalls. Because every church has elderly members and handicapped persons in attendance, there must be some way for these people to maneuver safely in a restroom stall. There are several types of grab bars, all ADA compliant, that architects can choose from.

Couples with small infants should also be accommodated with baby changing stations in all church restrooms. There are antimicrobial plastic stations as well as full changing tables available for this purpose.

Toilet Partitions for Factory Restroom Design

April 20th, 2011 by
Share

Toilet partitions for factory restroom design must offer corrosion resistance, ease of maintenance, and multiple options in mount configurations to ensure a return on investment for the organization that procures them. .

Toilet dividers for factory restroom design need to be corrosion resistant to minimize replacement costs in heavily polluted areas and for organizations specializing in the manufacture of fuels and certain chemicals. The best commercial bathroom dividers to use in both environments are solid plastic, baked enamel, and stainless steel, depending on how much money you want to spend.

Baked enamel is the least expensive, but it is not vandal resistant like plastic or stainless steel. Also, it requires a bit more extra care in cleaning which we will look at in a minute.

Obviously plastic, which lasts a thousand years even when thrown away, is not going to rust, nor is stainless steel, which is designed to resist rust and chemical airborne corrosives. While more expensive, stainless steel and solid plastic are tougher and ensure a solid ROI for those who can afford the front end purchase costs.

Regardless of your choice in partition material, all three toilet partition options that we recommend for factory restroom design are very low maintenance when you follow the basic guidelines for care.

To begin with, stainless steel is very hard to scratch and takes a lot of force to dent. However, there is one thing that will destroy it, and that is anything acidic that can eat through metal. Never let your cleaning crew put anything on a stainless steel partition that has an acid based composition.

For solid plastic toilet partitions, the cardinal rule is to never use any kind of heavy duty scouring pad that will leave visible grooves in the plastic. You can, however, use a soft bristle brush to remove buildup of dirt, grime, and grease. If someone vandalizes the partition by scratching it, you can also apply a heat source from 6 inches away and smooth the plastic back together. However, you have to be careful with this because melting the plastic will warp it.

Baked enamel toilet partitions require the most attentive care of any used in factory restroom design. This does not mean they are delicate, per se, but they cannot be scrubbed with force, nor can they take exposure to strong chemicals. Clean baked enamel with lukewarm soap and water in one bucket and clear water in another bucket. Let the soap do most of the work, then wipe the soap off with a soft rag. Rinse the surface, and wipe off the clear water to keep water spots from forming.

Toilet partitions may need to be mounted from the floor or the ceiling depending on what a particular factory restroom design calls for. Ask XBP Locker Supply help you find the right mounting option for your particular floor plan.

Commercial Washroom Accessories for Factory Restroom Design

April 19th, 2011 by
Share

Toilet partitions for factory restroom design are made out of a variety of materials. Architects can choose from baked enamel, phenolic core, plastic, stainless steel, and fusion granite. Partitions can be mounted in a variety of ways as well.

Washfountains are one of the most commercial washroom accessories used in factory restroom design. They allow factory workers to wash their hands and arms quickly and thoroughly. Some of the more popular washfountains are the Bradley Terreon® models. These commercial washroom accessories feature multi-user service capability, deep bowl design, and ADA compliance.

The circular bowl design is intended to be mounted in the center of the room where it can be accessed from all directions. This may not be practical in smaller restrooms where space is limited. In these factory restrooms, design plans may call for multiuser stations that mount along the wall or even in the corner.

Commercial showers are recommended for any factory restroom design where workers are exposed to industrial byproducts. While not all of these byproducts represent an immediate health hazard to the employee, they nonetheless could pose a long-term health hazard if left on the skin for too long. To reduce the risk of liability, it is advisable to require employees to shower at the end of the day to remove any such materials prior to leaving the building.

Grab bars are a recommended safety precaution in commercial showers. While normally used for physically challenged persons, these commercial washroom accessories are equally valuable to those who have become excessively fatigued from the strain of manual labor.

Designer lockers are recommended for factory restroom designs that include such shower facilities. They can be used for several purposes. Valuables, wallets, and cell phones can be safely locked up in these units during business hours. An extra pair of clothes can also be stored in them in the event that contaminants soil garments during the course of the worker’s shift. Obviously as well, they can be used to store a change of clothes for the return trip home after the end of the shift.

Hand dryers are money saving commercial washroom accessories. One of the biggest ongoing costs in factory restroom design is paper towel replacement. Eliminating paper towels altogether contributes to green building design. Any building pursuing LEED credit should invest in hand dryers to earn points to this end.

Bathroom mirrors can be made from either glass or stainless steel. Although these basic commercial washroom accessories are taken for granted by virtually anyone who ever walks into a restroom, those responsible for factory design know just how important it is to choose mirrors that will retain their reflectivity and endure any accidental impact.

Storage Lockers for Water Park Design

April 16th, 2011 by
Share

The many sizes and storage options offered by plastic storage lockers make them ideal for outdoor water park design. Outdoor theme parks do not always have the largest dressing rooms. Some may even use a portion of the restroom as a changing area, leaving only limited space for clothing storage.

Park designers can choose from a variety of single-tier and double-tier locker designs ranging from 36 to 72 inches in height that feature coat hooks for suits and dresses along with special shelves for shoes, underwear, and socks.

Storage lockers in the Z configuration feature wrinkle free clothing storage. This is of particular importance to indoor water park design. Indoor parks are typically part of a resort whose guests may be dressed very nice when they arrive. The ability to store one’s clothing without ruining its appearance is an added amenity that guests will appreciate.

Corrosion resistance is another major consideration in water park design. Both indoor parks and outdoor parks are very humid environments. Some outdoor parks are part of a larger sea world attraction that is located near the ocean.

These facilities not only have humidity issues, but they also have salt air to contend with. Given enough time, metal is going to begin showing signs of rust and deterioration. This will lead to ongoing repair costs and ultimately replacement costs that can easily be avoided with plastic storage lockers.

Plastic is a nonporous material that is impervious to moisture. This makes it resistant to rust, corrosion, and the buildup of any kind of mold or mildew that may be carried as spores by humid air in certain climates.

Plastic also holds up under the tough abuse that smaller children are known to put equipment through. Excited slamming or horseplay will not dent or scratch the surface of these lockers. This makes them a maintenance worker’s dream because they do not have to be repaired or replaced at the end of a busy season the way many metal lockers have to.

Another benefit of that plastic offers is that it never has to be painted. Storage lockers are made from plastic that is colored prior to the locker being assembled. The color runs throughout the plastic, not just over the surface like the color of a painted locker does.

All storage lockers are ADA compliant and super secure. Units can be ordered with built-in key locks, padlocks, or built-in combination locks to protect valuables.

Park Benches for Municipal Planning

April 14th, 2011 by
Share

Park benches used in municipal planning projects give civil engineers many choices when it comes to aesthetically complimenting the many urban environments they develop.

This is due to a tremendous diversity of colors, construction styles, mounting options, and materials. The following examples represent just some of the more creative ways that municipal governments are using benches in the more significant parts of their cities.

In some instances, a minimalist contemporary look is needed for certain municipal planning projects. Park benches in the rod bench with back style are popular here. They have that noticeably contemporary look to them. When we say contemporary, we mean a design that challenges fixed ideas and stereotypical perceptions. The geometry is symmetrical, but it is not what you expect. It forces you to take a second look. Newer buildings that you want to draw attention to will look greatly enhanced with this effect.

In other areas of your city, municipal planning may need to focus more on nature more than architecture. You may assume this would only mean the parks in your city. However, you already know that your population feels much more comfortable in an environment that is somewhat connected to nature wherever they go. Significant examples include commercial office parks, school campuses, and your newly remodeled historical district. Renaissance wood park benches here will compliment any natural vegetation or body of water just like the old archetypal wooden bench out of story and myth.

In still other parts of your city, business is the most important matter of focus. As such, an aura of professionalism must pervade the entire business district to encourage professionals to keep the right mental focus throughout the day. This is obvious when we look at the architecture of the major buildings in any American city’s financial district. Municipal planning in these areas should incorporate park benches that have a more formal look to them.

The perforated roll formed metal bench is an ideal choice for this. It looks almost—but not quite—solid when the light hits it. The very small perforations let pinpoints of sunlight through, much like light reflected off skyscraper buildings. It looks very sophisticated and formal in front of any bank building or insurance headquarters building.

Municipal planning is now beginning to encourage creative districts of the city to keep the momentum of our civilization moving forward. After all, where would any of us be money wise or education wise if creative people had not had brilliant ideas to get it all started? Virtually any town has a neighborhood where the arts are concentrated and celebrated. . Park benches in these places should have a noticeable flair to their design. We recommend that city governments invest in the ribbons and rings style to compliment art galleries, museums, and eclectic communities where cafes and outdoor art sales predominate.

Storage Lockers for Gyms

April 12th, 2011 by

Storage lockers are very important to gyms. They provide people with adequate space to neatly store their day clothes while they change into athletic wear. They also provide people who are using the dressing room with a safe place to store their valuables during games and workouts.

The type of lockers used in a gym depends on the nature of the facility itself. Some facilities are built for public exercise. These gymnasiums charge either an annual contract fee or a month-to-month rate for membership. Members of these organizations typically require more locker space than normal because they are coming straight from work.

Extra wide metal lockers are recommended for these gymnasiums because they have plenty of room for suits, dresses, purses, and valuables such as jewelry and laptops. Different types of locks can secure the items stored while the customer works out.

In public schools, students typically do not bring anything to the gym other than themselves and the clothes they are wearing. Storage lockers here do not have to be that large. However, to prevent odor buildup in the locker room, it is advisable to invest in a type of locker that keeps clothing well ventilated while students are exercising.

The most practical and affordable locker type for this purpose is the vented three tiered metal lockers. These units stand three lockers tall and can be customized with built-in combination locks. They keep clothing dry by allowing air to circulate through the interior. They are also useful in controlling contraband in certain school environments, because any illegal substance with a distinctive smell will readily be detected in the open air to anyone passing by.

Other storage lockers for gyms are designed with a private clientele in mind. Usually this private clientele consists of a community of some sort using an athletic facility built only for them. Examples of this can include high-rise apartment communities, exclusive housing developments, luxury hotels, and country clubs.

Because interior design is a major selling point for obtaining new memberships or residents in these places, these gyms need storage lockers that look as good as they work. The best option here is to purchase some type of designer locker that matches the interior of the dressing room.

One of the more popular design styles is the Double S design, so called because the door looks somewhat like an S. This design is not arbitrary. It actually allows the unit to hold more garments and to keep them wrinkle free as much as possible. These storage lockers are also ventilated, and they come in designer colors to match the colors of floors, walls, ceilings, and even special furnishings often found in very high-end dressing rooms.

Column Showers Improve Warehouse Design

April 9th, 2011 by
Share

Employees who work in warehouses often need to shower at the end of the day because they handle dangerous materials during their shift. Including showers in any warehouse design will add a preventative safety mechanism that can save an organization a tremendous amount of money that would otherwise be lost to work related illness. We recommend column showers for this purpose because they save time and money on installation costs.

These multi-user showers also save warehouses a lot of of space regardless of how they are installed.

Space saving is very important to warehouse design. Because the majority of the building must be used for shipping, receiving, and storage, other areas must be smaller. Space devoted to group showers must use only a marginal amount of the overall building area to be truly efficient..

Column showers do this better than any other type of industrial shower used in warehouse design. They have such a simple design, really, consisting of nothing more than a column that pipes water to multiple shower heads. You can have as many as six shower heads on one column, all linked to a single water source. You can also add privacy partitions to the configuration.

The simplicity of the column shower allows you to mount it several ways. One way is to install the showers in the center of a special shower room. Install partitions between the heads, and you have a multiuser central shower facility complete with shower stalls.

This mounting option is most efficient in larger warehouse designs that have available rooms to devote to men’s and women’s showers. In smaller warehouses, it is often more convenient to mount showers in restrooms by installing the column along an empty portion of the wall and connecting it to a water source. You can do this and still use privacy partitions.

In warehouse designs involving a remodel, this may be a much more practical way to mount column showers because it does not cutting into the floor to get to the plumbing. You can go in through the wall for much less time, labor and money.

Regardless of how you ultimately configure them, the column showers themselves are easy to install. They arrive preassembled, and regardless of how they are mounted, require only a single access point to the water supply. The most important decision, then, is figure out how best to mount them in regards to balancing floor space with cost of labor involved in installation.

Metal Picnic Tables for Theme Park Design

April 7th, 2011 by
Share

Theme park designers must invest in materials that can withstand the elements for several decades. In order to generate a savings payback return on investment in the form of reduced repair, maintenance, and replacement costs. Wooden tables do not give this ROI because they are vandalized too easily and deteriorate relatively quickly in full exposure to the elements.

Metal picnic tables, on the other hand, will give you the expected ROI you are seeking. Thanks to their all-welded steel construction, they can handle heavy traffic and constant use. Their thermoplastic coating further protects them from the elements and any attempt to vandalize them.

Our metal picnic tables come in a wide range of color options to support any given theme park design. Different facilities have different architecture, landscaping, and amenities to convey different frames of mind. Water parks, for instance, need color coordination to the colors of water in bright sunlight. Zoo parks need more like brown, black, or green because this is what we see in nature. Amusement parks typically want bright red, orange, or yellow to get people to come to areas where food is served in hot attraction spots.

Stylistically speaking, metal picnic tables and park benches need a design that compliments the architecture and design of their surroundings. The colors of theme park design itself are mirrored either directly or indirectly through the shapes and colors of tables and benches.

Parks with very natural looking facilities may want standard rectangular designs that mimic wooden picnic tables in public parks. Amusement parks, on the other hand, would require something a great deal more eye catching like an octagonal table top. Metal picnic tables for sale on our website feature a full range of geometries when it comes to table top design that will compliment everything from nature itself to fun rides or contemporary architecture.

Theme park designers have to always work to accommodate a broad spectrum of humanity. A table should be friendly to children, adults, seniors, and to physically challenged persons alike. In addition to designs that favor seating entire families comfortably, there are also special tables for children.

Physically challenged want prefer tables with rounded edges and seats because they are easier to get in and out of. Many people want a bit of shade when they eat, too, which is why we offer optional umbrellas with all of our many metal picnic tables models.
