Toilet Compartments
Toilet compartments can go in any public restroom. Restroom visitors must have them privacy and comfort. Partitions must also aesthetically compliment interior architecture. Choosing the right divider design helps establish the decorative tone of the restroom interior.
Few public restrooms are built these days without toilet dividers. They are standard line items in new constructions. In more and more remodels, they are also being included thanks to new materials they are made with and new ways of mounting them.
Toilet compartments are made from powder coated metal, stainless steel, solid plastic, or phenolic.
Powder coated metal compartments are made from 100 percent recycled metal. Fire resistance is the biggest advantage they offer. They are also the least expensive to install and can be purchased in a wide range of designer colors that will compliment any new floor, ceiling, or wall.
Stainless steel partitions are expensive but well worth it if you have the money. They are renowned for resiliency, longevity, and cleanliness. Any medical who needs to create a sterile environment can count on stainless steel toilet compartments as a key component of sanitation. Also, these dividers will not rust, and they are resistant to the bacterial buildup.
In lower traffic areas with minimal vandalism, plastic dividers are the cheapest dividers. They resist water absorption, and this makes them ideal for hot, humid environments. They don’t absorb water, so if someone does try to write on them, the ink won’t set into the surface.
Phenolic toilet partitions work like super plastic dividers, but they are not made from plastic. Phenolic is a much tougher and very unique material out of a blend of compressed fibers and resin. It resists water, oil, and bacteria. It is easier to clean than plastic, can’t be damaged with chemicals, and is also excellent for sterile environments.
Any type of partition can be manufactured with ADA compliance in mind. Any indo of Toilet compartment can also be mounted in one of four different ways to accommodate the many different sizes and interior designs of public restrooms.
One way to mount them is to hang them from the ceiling. This conserves floor space in small restrooms by keeping the partition bottom off of the ground.
Floor mounted partitions are ideal for remodels where you can’t drill into the ceiling, or where it is too high up to reach.
You can also mount restroom dividers to both the floor and ceiling. This is easy and cheap to do for facilities on a budget.
If you want the best in vandal resistance mount, however, you need floor mounted partitions reinforced with an overhead brace. Toilet compartments you mount this way are almost as sturdy as a wall because the brace penetrating the ceiling runs parallel to the top of the compartment and reinforces its center of gravity.
