Sports Stadium Open Access Athletic Dressing Room Lockers

November 29th, 2011 by

Why are open access sports lockers considered to be the best choice for sports stadiums and dressing rooms?

They have no doors, so they provide immediate access to the most important pieces of clothing and equipment that all athletes need.  They have specialized storage areas as well that allow for the organization of smaller pieces of equipment and the secure storage of valuables.

Are all models basically designed the same way?

They all have three sections, but the dimensions and depths of these sections vary from model to model.

What materials are used to build them?

These stadium lockers  are made from plastic, which is dent resistant, and corrosion resistant, heavy duty steel, which is vented and thick enough to resist heavy usage, or wood, which contributes a fine aesthetic to dressing room design.

Who uses which type of model?

That varies partly according to preference.  Generally, though, we see a lot of professional sports stadiums and universities using the wooden stadium lockers.  They have a chic look that goes with the winning attitude of a top-notch sports team.

Heavy traffic facilities often use metal open access sports lockers because they are less expensive per unit.  They can be used by a variety of different types of teams that include soccer, football, baseball, and basketball.

Plastic sports lockers may also be used in these facilities because they are extremely corrosion and vandal resistant.  In fact, some small and mid-sized towns that do not have a sports stadium per se, but rather rely on their civic center for both athletic and non-athletic events, may use plastic open access lockers in dressing rooms because municipal workers can use them to store heavy equipment during off season times of the year.

What is the basic design of an open access sports locker?

It has a top shelf, a long, vertical middle section, and a foot locker that locks at the bottom.

The top part is used as a cubby to store anything from helmets to water bottles to baseball gloves to basketballs.  Essentially, anything an athlete feels can be organized and fit into this space can be stored here.  Some locker models also have a divider that creates closed storage on one side, and open storage on the other.

Each dressing room locker also has a middle section featuring a long vertical space with a curtain rod where uniforms and clothes can be hung neatly.  There is also plenty of space to store extra jerseys and pants at the bottom, shoes, protective gear, pads, bats, or hockey sticks.

Finally, each open access sports locker has a locking foot locker compartment at the bottom where players can store their valuables.

Box, Bridge, and Modular Employee Personal Storage Lockers

November 20th, 2011 by
Share

You can find a particular type of box, bridge, and modular employee personal storage locker and adapt it to any floor plan.  You can accommodate specific valuables storage needs, clothing storage needs, security needs, and accountability concerns.  Even vandal resistance can be counted among the benefits of this line of versatile, customizable personal storage units available through XPB Locker Supply.

Like the name suggests, the basic design behind any of these models is the box or cube.  The boxlike features an interior that provides ample storage space for a variety of materials, along with any number of lock types to keep belongings, supplies, and valuables secure.

Most organizations, to keep costs down, invest in metal box, bridge, and modular employee personal storage units.  The 16 gauge steel they are made from gives them a resistance to heavy wear and tear and even vandalism to some degree.

These units are very secure as well.  Box or cube storage lockers, for instance, can be customized with combination locks or keypad locks.  They can also be ventilated to keep contents dry.

Box, bridge, and modular employee storage locker deign is sometimes creatively adapted to unique storage requirements and space limitations.  We see this in the bridge locker design, which spans a top row of box lockers between two vertical columns of box lockers.  The space at the top, under the horizontal row of box storage lockers, is used to hang clothing.  The floor space at the bottom can also be used to store any number of items that can be neatly stacked along the wall.

Sometimes, then again, the very basic design is the best design provided it is modified with specific environments in mind.  The fundamental box, bridge, and modular employee storage locker design has to be adapted to a balance between privacy and security in many school environments.  We see this in modular lockers, which will have either a ventilated door, or a door with a clear window that allows full visibility of locker contents.

Obviously, a school with concerns about the possible storage of contraband would likely consider modular lockers with windowed doors as the best way to monitor student locker contents.  If contraband is not of major concern, however, schools can opt for the ventilated design, which most athletes feel more comfortable leaving valuables in.

Other very small organizations may use multi use box, bridge, and modular employee storage locker mounted in horizontal rows along the wall to accommodate corner storage needs for a small group of employees or workers.

Solid Plastic Lenox® Lockers are super attractive and super tough.  They come in a variety of configurations to meet the needs of your business model. These heavy duty employee dressing room lockers can range from 12” to 18” deep.  You can install them either freestanding or recessed, depending on your floor plan.

You never have to repaint these lockers because the color is contiguous throughout the material.  They are resistant to denting and scratching as well.  Any graffiti drawn on them can be easily removed, so they are good to install in vandal prone areas.

You can choose between two tier and one tier models, both of which come with coat hooks under center shelves.

We also have Single Tier Extra Wide Standard Metal Lockers. These are good for organizations on a budget that need basic clothing storage space and do not require ventilation of the locker interior.  You can customize these lockers with a front base, a sloping hood, name plates, and combination locks.

If you need ventilation, however, we recommend you invest in single-tier vented metal employee dressing room lockers.  These are made from 16 gauge steel.  It is very strong, and it allows for total visibility of locker content.  These lockers are also wide, and they can be secured with either a padlock or a combination lock.

These employee dressing room lockers are also over six feet tall, and they can be either 15 or 18 inches deep.

If your facility requires a more sophisticated look, we have designer employee dressing room lockers that are made from particle board overlaid with decorative plastic laminate.  These storage units can be ordered in 1 tier, 2 tier, or 3 tier configurations.  You can choose from 6 attractive colors as well to match any interior design you have.

If you require 2 tier employee dressing room lockers to accommodate a high number of users, but you want to provide them with plenty of storage space, you can invest in extra wide metal lockers.  These storage units come single wide, double wide, or triple wide and range are either 15 inches or 18 inches deep.   They are also very heavy duty, being constructed out of 16 gauge steel.  They have an interior shelf and 3 hooks on the wall, along with a hook on the ceiling.

Extra wide units can be customized with name plates, number plates, and combo locks if necessary.  These accessories are sold separately.

Open Access Athletic Dressing Room Equipment Lockers

November 12th, 2011 by

There are many different types of open access athletic dressing room equipment lockers you can buy from XPB Locker Supply.  Each locker type is designed to meet certain equipment storage needs, uniform and day clothing storage needs, and gear storage requirements.  Many of these lockers are also used in other industries besides the world of sports.  Gear lockers are common in police stations, fire stations, certain types of industrial facilities where protective gear must be worn, and in military barracks where special equipment and weapons have to be stored.

If you want an open access athletic dressing room equipment locker that is made from metal, your best option available is the K.D (abbreviated for Knock Down) Stadium Locker.  These are heavy duty steel lockers that have a security box at the bottom, a full width shelf in the interior, and a foot locker with a steel hinge-reinforced seat at the bottom.  They are so durable that they are used in other applications such as mining and law enforcement.

There are also wooden stadium open access athletic dressing room equipment lockers that are used by major league teams in all divisions of professional sports.  The top of the locker has plenty of storage space in its own right.  The upper shelf is perfect for storing football helmets, catcher’s masks, or hockey masks.  There is also plenty of space here for smaller pieces of equipment too.  The main section can hold special gear, along with practice and official game uniforms.  There is a foot locker at the bottom that can be secured with a lock that also dual functions as a seat.

Another type of wooden open access athletic dressing room equipment locker features plastic laminate overlays to make it impervious to high internal humidity and heavy usage.  Lockers of this type can be placed together to create a row of lockers of any desired length. If you are opening a civic center or community sports arena where multiple local leagues and persons of all ages are going to be using the lockers, this design offers your organization incredible durability and functionality.

Many sporting facilities, however, are smaller and more custom in nature.  These are typically high-end country clubs, locker rooms in resort hotels, and locker rooms in private gymnasiums.  This open access athletic dressing room equipment locker is the most chic of them all.  It not only functions superbly, but it features a very elegant design made from fine wood and all the standard divisions needed to store clothing, uniforms, valuables, and gear.

Division 10 Specialties and Products

November 10th, 2011 by

What kind of Division 10 specialties and products do you sell?

We sell commercial washroom accessories that are mostly manufactured by Bradley Corporation.  These products feature several advantages over competing equivalents.  For one thing, they are designed in ways that allow for installation in full compliance of ADAAG codes.

When do you recommend combination dispensers and combination waste receptacles?

We have found they are ideal for restrooms of all sizes.  Small restrooms benefit from the space management they offer.  Mid-sized restrooms can be made to handle more traffic with combination units that require less maintenance.  Large restrooms can also use combo units to configure different levels of support in one large room.

Secondly, they are highly practical accessories as well.  Many fixtures combine mirrors, trash cans, and paper towel dispensers into one unit.  There are also personal item vending devices, and there are combination units that dispense toilet paper and toilet seat covers.

Do you only sell paper towel holders or do you sell commercial hand dryers?

Our Division 10 specialties and products inventory include both.  A great many of our paper towel holders are part of units that also house waste receptacles.  Some are touch free as well.

Our selection of hand dryers includes some of the most advanced on the market.  They can be mounted in ADA compliant configurations as well.

Do you offer any assistance configuring Division 10 specialties and products to the ADAAG?

Yes.  We can do more for you if you give us full blueprints and specifications concerning your facility.  We need to know things like the general age of the average user, the number of persons estimated to use the restroom each day, and what type of facility you are working in.

Why do you need all this?

We need this information so we can design a commercial washroom that accommodates general usage as well as meets the needs of disabled persons.  For example, if you are building a restroom in a school, certain division 10 specialties and products may need to be configured so smaller children can easily reach them.  Providing accessibility for handicapped children may be another challenge we can help you with.

The number of users is also important.  If you do not build enough restroom stalls, you cannot handle the traffic of a large user population moving in and out of the facility.  So, there is more to building an ADA compliant restroom stall than simply choosing the right partition and adding the grab bars.  Space management versus the size of the restroom is a very important part of the equation used to select certain Division 10 specialties and products that we sell.

ADA Lavatory Systems for Handicapped Bathrooms

November 8th, 2011 by

XPB Locker Supply has a number of Bradley hand washing systems that you can order as ADA lavatory systems for handicapped bathrooms.  These systems can be customized prior to shipping in order to ensure full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The major considerations of approachability, knee clearance, contoured undersurfaces for safety, and single hand faucet control are all addressed by the many models and configurations that we supply for both new building constructions and building remodeling projects.

One of the major benefits of working with our team is the ability to customize ADA lavatory systems for handicapped bathrooms on the level of aesthetic design as well as the practical level of regulatory compliance.  This ability to work on both the practical and the aesthetic level is the result of several revolutionary designs introduced into the commercial washroom fixture marketplace by Bradley Corporation.

This diversity of models, configurations, unique and proprietary materials, ecological awareness, remarkable colors, sink sizes, and customization options allows us to provide clients with ADA lavatory systems for handicapped bathrooms that often the full expectations of both code minimum compliance and facility manager design expectations.  This results in a superior facility than one that simply meets minimum requirements for one, the other, or both.

Some of the more remarkable new developments in commercial washroom fixture design technology now feature materials that are ideal for accessibility compliance.  Take, for instance, the Bradley OmniDeck and Bradley Verge Systems made from  Evero ™.

Evero™ is proprietary form of industrially modified natural quartz that can be molded like clay.  This allows the manufacturing team to construct ADA lavatory systems for handicapped bathrooms that are completely free from rough edges or sharp corners that could endanger the comfort or safety of disabled users.

Another amazing Bradley material is Terreon®.  It is ideal for environmental awareness, and its unique composition also allows for highly contoured design work that makes the sink area not only more attractive, but also more accessible.

One of the most popular lavatories manufactured by Bradley Corporation is the Frequency series.  The bowl design allows for more knee clearance than other accessible fixtures.  It also features a rounded, wave design front edge that allows users to get closer to faucets.

Finally, many of the newest Bradley ADA lavatory systems for handicapped bathrooms feature capacitance sensing faucet design that allows for maximum water flow control and 100% touch free operability.

ADA Restroom Floor Plans for Handicapped Bathrooms

November 6th, 2011 by
Share

Toilets for ADA restroom floor plans for handicapped bathroom can be any type.  XPB Locker, however, recommends stainless steel as the most practical and durable material to use for the construction of accessible restrooms.  The type of the toilet is not nearly as important as the height of the toilet seat.  Depending on whether the toilet is in a standard compartment or a larger walk-in compartment, toilet seat height must be 17 to 19 inches above the floor.  The toilet should also be offset from the center to safeguard privacy.

Check with municipal authorities to see if any additional local regulations apply to your build out, and talk to your account representative at XPB Locker about specific configurations that can be developed with Bradley Corporation Mills Partitions

Partitions must be used to build stalls that have outswinging doors that further protect user privacy.  Grab bars are a mandated fixture in every ADA restroom floor plan for handicapped bathrooms.  Grab bars ensure that users who are wheelchair bound can maneuver from their chairs to toilet seats without falling.  Grab bars must be able to support at least 250 pounds of lift weight so that physically challenged persons can safely grip them, balance on them, and swing over to the toilet seat.  They must also be able to swing back to their chairs when ready to leave the restroom.

Talk to your XPB Locker representative about grab bar distance from the walls, positioning on partition walls, and height from the floor.

Lavatories for ADA restroom floor plans for handicapped bathrooms must allow physically challenged persons ample leg room to wheel chairs up to the edge of the sink counter and wash their hands.  Accessibility to water and soap is a must.  Most sinks can be configured ADA compliant, but the best models that are latest on the market are the new wave design sinks that allow users to get extra close to water and soap sources.  Capacitance sensing allows for touch free water discharge so users do not have to handle any fixtures.

Mirrors in ADA restroom floor plans for handicapped bathrooms must be no higher than 40 inches above the ground.  We have a number of models on our site that can be used in conjunction with everything from standard restroom designs for single users to high end, multi-user facilities.  However, Bradley Corporation recommends a full length mirror to satisfy the requirements of both handicapped persons and standing persons.

We also recommend the convenience and hygiene of touch-free hand dryers in ADA restroom floor plans for handicapped bathrooms.  Protruding only a few inches from the wall, these dryers offer all users a convenient, clean, and comfortable alternative to the problematics of paper towels.

Round and Modular Locker Room Shower Stall Enclosures

November 3rd, 2011 by
Share

Round and modular locker room shower stall enclosures have resolved a number of issues associated with old shower room and locker room design.  In the past, shower heads had to be installed along the walls in a separate room.

This room was sometimes almost as large as the locker room because that much space was needed to accommodate a large number of users.  There was no privacy, no stalls, and little to keep people from slipping and falling on soapy floors that sloped toward drains in the middle of the room.  There was little that could be done, either about all the wasted water that resulted from fixtures with no flow controls.

Now, however, architects can make much more efficient use of building space by designing more compact locker rooms that install round and modular locker room showers in the same general space as benches and storage lockers.  Partitions and curtains create private stalls for individual users.  The drains are better designed now too, with better traction on the floor to minimize slip hazards.

What you have in a round and modular locker room shower is actually an indoor column shower.  You can invest in semi-circular models that can handle up to 3 users at a time, or you can invest in circular models can handle up to 6 people at once.  There are also column showers housed in back to back rectangular stalls that also have privacy shower curtains.

We can custom configure any of these, or a combination of these, to your individual floor plan.  This will allow your facility to use only what is necessary for clothing storage, changing areas, equipment storage, and shower space without sacrificing other areas of the building that can be used for other purposes.  Round and modular shower systems, when properly configured and positioned, will make it possible to use even the smallest locker storage area as a dual shower area.

These commercial athletic column shower systems can be used in large facilities just as wall showers are.  There is no size limit on how big a locker room can be.  Their true value, though, reveals itself in very small gymnasiums, aerobics centers, schools, public water parks, swimming pools, police stations, fire departments, and industrial where employees need to shower and change before leaving work.

Call a design specialist today at XPB Locker to see how we can equip your facility with round and modular locker room showers that will make the very best use of the space you have and exceed the expectations of your customers, visitors, guests, or employees.
