Medical Plumbing Equipment and Design Accessories

December 18th, 2012 by

patient-care-lavatory-water-closet-LC750What products distinguish you from other medical plumbing companies?

The most important products we sell for patient care are water closets. These lavatory-toilet combination units add measurable improvements to both patient restrooms and patient rooms as a whole. Because the toilets are stored within the cabinets whenever they are not in use, waste, odor, and bacteria are trapped behind closed doors. Patients feel much better when they use an attractive restroom that smells fresh, where the lavatory is right at their fingertips, and a retrievable, accessible toilet is easily manipulated while in use. Certain water closet models are also designed to accommodate the professional needs of health care providers. These units offer extra storage capacity and built-in bed pan washers. From a hygienic perspective, the difference is undeniably better compared to standard porcelain toilets that are open to the air throughout the day.

What type of medical plumbing fixtures do you sell?

We sell water closets, deep bowl lavatories, anti-ligature lavatories, and a number of anti-ligature panel showers. Most of these products are specifically intended for restrooms located in patient rooms. However, the anti-ligature lavatories and anti-ligature showers can also be installed in any ward that requires high security measures for persons facing criminal charges, or for patients suffering from mental affliction. The deep bowl lavatories are also used in intensive care units because they effectively keep water from overflowing onto the floor during high traffic periods of heavy duty hand washing.

Do you offer any design services?

Yes. In addition to medical plumbing equipment, we will help you design and accessorize your patient restroom. We have needle disposal units, bed pan holders, specimen pass through cabinets, and bed pan storage cabinets. If you have limited space, we can help you find the best locations for these accessories so they are easily within reach of health care staff. Furthermore, we also offer design assistance for patient shower rooms. Not only do we have a number of anti-ligature panel shower options, but we also supply partitions that can be used to build individual stalls. Various privacy options ranging from no door, shower curtain, shower stall door, and no-site shower stalls for total privacy can be balanced against any patient supervision needs a particular ward may require.

Residential Uses for Cedar Outdoor Furniture

December 14th, 2012 by

Most middle class Americans cannot afford professional landscape designs, so they look for ways to improve their curb appeal with do-it-yourself strategies and materials. Cedar outdoor furniture is a great way to add a whole new dimension to your yard with a few basic purchases that require a minimal amount of labor.

If you have ever tried to build your own concrete patio you know how quickly you can get over your head with a labor intensive project that isn’t as easy as it looks. A simpler way to create a nice seating area for your family and friends is to use gravel to build your patio and choose one or more cedar bench styles to provide comfortable seating in the middle of your favorite spot or somewhere within the boundaries of a flower garden.

If you have children who always want to go out and eat you can buy a picnic table and place it under a shade tree in your own back yard. This will attract your children’s friends, who are welcome to bring their own food with them for a party in your back yard.  Here, you can watch their activities, and you can also save a considerable amount of money.

Cedar outdoor furniture is competitively priced with other landscaping materials, and it is much more cost effective than public eateries, theme parks, and other places that attract your children and take your money. You can also provide them with a way to clean up after themselves with an attractive cedar litter container that blends in nicely with your home and garden design.

If you have already paid someone to build you a deck, you can also save on luxury outdoor furniture costs by using cedar picnic tables and benches instead. The wood provides a ready, natural compliment to a variety of deck designs.  The galvanized steel frames add a formal touch to traditional landscapes, but different colors of steel can also be used to accent contemporary and modern landscape designs.

You can also place cedar outdoor furniture a basic frame with a simple roof and build yourself a nice garden gazebo or pergola. If you have a traditional home design with a front porch, you can place a cedar bench with a backrest on the porch so that guests who drop by uninvited have a nice, comfortable place to visit without having to come into the house itself.

Mailbox Design Options

December 6th, 2012 by

Retail strip centers are normally serviced with post-mounted mailbox designs. Also known as CBUs, these mail boxes sit on top of a pedestal   These USPS outdoor mail centers offer each tenant an individual mail unit that can be accessed with a key.  Both standard and decorative CBUs are available and include outgoing mail slots and built-in parcel lockers.  Retail centers can also purchase additional outdoor parcel lockers for high volume package delivery.

CBU units are also popular in small commercial buildings with only 2-4 tenants, law offices, tax offices, and very small office parks with building tenants facing toward a central courtyard area.

Commercial Mail Receiving Centers offer mail box rentals to DBAs, individuals, and corporations who want to receive their mail at different location other than their own physical address. The demands for commercial mail receiving centers when people began to become dissatisfied with standard P.O. boxes rented from local post offices.  CMRCs can invest in either aluminum or brass mailbox designs that will service a large number of clients in even a small building with limited wall space. There are also specialty products available for package deliveries.

Schools and university campuses need mail centers for interdepartmental mail. These mail delivery units do not have to be USPS certified if they are used only by internal staff.  Various types of mail drops and parcel lockers can be ordered that will help any campus streamline their interdepartmental correspondence and package delivery.  Letter boxes are an absolute must for public schools because they allow teachers to quickly share hard copy documents with one another and school administrators.

Number mailbox designs exist for office buildings of varying sizes and functions. USPS regulations require mail centers to be on the first floor.  Office buildings with multiple tenants on each floor will want to choose from wall-mounted horizontal units or free-standing mail centers.  Very small building with only a handful of tenants can invest in larger vertical mail boxes.  Buildings where large companies occupy multiple floors will typically build inter-office mail centers on each floor using either vertical units or using specialty equipment in addition to the first floor mail center.  Offices can also accommodate package deliveries by investing in USPS approved parcel drops.

How to Design any Commercial Shower Stall Anywhere

December 4th, 2012 by
Share

Commercial shower stalls can be designed for varying levels of privacy, water flow control, temperature control, and ADA compliance

Schools K-12

School shower fixtures can be built with shower heads lower to the ground for elementary students and at standard heights for older students.  Any level of privacy can be accommodated with both group and individual showers.    Water metering and automatic shutoff can be used to minimize water waste, and vandal resistant partitions and equipment can be affordably purchased.

Student Housing

XPB Locker Supply can help institutions of higher learning customize their student shower rooms based on student privacy needs and building floor plan.  Campus shower facilities can be built with a balance of visual aesthetics and durability using chrome pated brass shower heads that feature exceptional usage lifetimes.  Metering valves, temperature controls, and water flow restricting mechanisms should not be used because they can limit user preference and comfort levels.  Fixtures with 2.5 GPM are preferred.

Fitness Clubs

Geriatric considerations should be factored into design when building a shower room for memberships that include retirees.  Generously sized commercial shower stalls can be created that accommodate total comfort, privacy, and any special amenities.  Shower heads with thermostatic valves are recommended to avoid scalding temperatures.

Recreational Facilities

Shower rooms in stadiums, athletic centers, and theme parks can be built with shower heads installed at varying heights to accommodate users of all age groups.  Aesthetics and vandal resistance can be balanced in public restrooms with solid plastic partitions available in a wide range of colors.  Athletic locker rooms can save money with shower curtains or group showers when privacy is not the main concern.

Industrial Plants

Individual Panelon® showers and stalls built with no-site partitions are recommended here because they provide the highest level of privacy for employees.  Panelon® showers are also easier to install in restrooms than larger group shower assemblies.   Low maintenance value can be added with single-handled pressure-balancing valves.

ADA Compliance

You can ensure that your commercial shower enclosures and fixtures meet with TAS or ADA compliance in any of the above type facilities.  Commercial shower stalls can be built with 36” X 36” using grab bars, showers seats, and shower heads on flexible cords that can be manipulated by the users.  Controls in these showers require less than 5lbs of pressure for users to operate without any grasping.  TouchTime® metering or Equa-Flo pressure balancing are the best water control features to use for accessible shower facilities.

Lavatories for Chemical Plants and Refineries

December 1st, 2012 by
Share

What lavatories do you recommend for chemical plants and refineries?

If your chemical plant or refinery produces a high level of industrial contaminants, we recommend that you install at least one heavy duty, Terreon deep bowl washfountain.  A circular model will accommodate 8 users at a time and will allow them to wash all the way up to their elbows.  While you will no doubt find some wash fountains in our inventory that are ADA compliant, we recommend that you invest in a deep bowl unit because ADA compliant wash fountains do not allow users to easily wash as far up their arms as they require for safety purposes.  (In some environments, too, you may also need to install showers for your workers, which we can also build for you using custom wall units and plastic partitions configured for total privacy.)

This is not to say that you have to choose between a washfountain and a standard lavatory. This is not an either-or scenario.  Many chemical plants and refineries will install both in order to accommodate heavy duty hand washing needs and accessibility needs more.  You may have, in your facility, several user groups using the same restroom.  Not only are workers coming into the restroom off the plant floor, but management, business partners, clients, and vendors are all also using the restroom.  These persons may not require a handwash fountain, or these persons may have accessibility needs that a wash fountain cannot provide.

We therefore recommend installing either an Advocate system or a Frequency lavatory, both of which are ideal for chemical plants and refineries. Both systems are available in Terreon, which is a chemical and stain resistant solid surface material that is also GREENGUARD Certified.  Both are ADA complaints, with specific advantages offered by each design.  The Frequency features the very best knee clearance of any commercial sink, and it also features a very contemporary appearance as well.  The Advocate system offers superior water overflow prevention.  This is a good choice for a restroom that is constantly having a problem with a wet floor safety hazard.  Additionally, the Advocate has a built in hand dryer unit that eliminates the need for paper towels, as well as a light-powered, no touch faucet and built in soap dispenser.
