October 11th, 2017 by

When designing School Toilet Rooms, it’s important to invest in materials that will last through rough experiences. XPB Locker provides partitions that are easy to clean, durable, rust proof, and withstand vandalism. Special coatings make graffiti removal easier. Ceiling mounted partitions are best for floor cleaning but for extreme traffic and vandal prone areas floor anchored with overhead bracing is advised. Stall doors often lose alignment over time and should have sufficient clearance and lock latch length to function.

Now that you’ve installed the restroom partitions, it’s time to complete your restroom design project with every-day restroom accessories. You’ll find everything from toilet paper dispensers, seat cover dispensers, hand dryers, paper towel dispensers, to soap dispensers. We have a vast inventory to meet every need. Installing Restroom Accessories for Dynamic Industries

July 21st, 2014 by

Bathroom-Accessories-For-Public-RestroomsProject Summary

XPB Locker recently was contracted by a company by the name of Dynamic Industries to act as a vendor and installer of commercial restroom accessories.  Dynamic Industries offers a number of fabrication, manufacturing, and construction services to offshore oil companies.  A new facility, which has the ability to monitor and remotely control oil flow, is being constructed in Gonzalez, TX.  This facility features a men’s restroom in the shop area, and a men’s and a women’s restroom in the office area.

As we do throughout the state of Texas, XPB Locker both supplied and installed both commercial restroom accessories and restroom partitions.

Commercial Restroom Accessories Spotlight

Toilet Tissue Dispensers

In all three restrooms, we installed cost effective, durable toilet tissue dispensers.  These particular units are surface mounted to the partitions and hold two rolls each, one on top of the other.

Grab Bars

In the office area restrooms, we had to install ADA compliant stalls as well as standard stalls.  ADA regulations stipulate that grab bars be installed on both sides of the toilet to allow disabled persons to maneuver within the stalls.Restroom-Accessories-For-Public-Facilities

Napkin Disposal

These disposal units for feminine products are often offered to companies as commercial restroom accessories for women’s restrooms.

Paper Towel Dispensers

We installed paper towel dispensers that feature a decorative look and a fine satin finish.  In the shop unit, we recommended a more utilitarian model that combines a trash can with the paper towel dispenser in an single assembly.

Soap Dispensers

Horizontal style soap dispensers, which are also ADA compliant, were mounted over the sink in all three restrooms.

Mirrors

While theft and vandalism were not an issue for Dynamic Industries, we recommended mirrors typically used for this purpose because of the way they mount nearly flush to the wall.

Commercial-Bathroom-AccessoriesRestroom Partitions

We constructed ADA compliant and standard stalls in the office restrooms and standard stalls in the shop restroom.  We used baked enamel partitions to save on cost because vandalism and humidity are not an issue in this facility.Request A Quote

Why Bathroom Stalls for Total Privacy are Top Priority

November 10th, 2012 by
Share

Bathroom stalls for total privacy represent an ideal blend of function, aesthetics, and user amenity. You have to think about a blend of these three factors any time you are developing a new restroom design.  This holds equally true for both new constructions and renovations.  New build outs are expected to look new by offering a blend of the latest fixtures and accessories and an interior design that reflects a certain awareness of decorative trends.  Remodels can be even more demanding than new constructions because these projects are usually undertaken with a limited budget.  Expectations are typically just as high as they are for new constructions, yet funding for these expectations is severely limited.  Organizations have to make some very tough calls when determining bathroom design priorities.  If only one or two things can be replaced with available budgets, the things that matter the very most to a user are the things that need to be upgraded.

Without question, the total privacy of your bathroom stalls is going to rank near the top, if not at the very top, of any priority list you make. People will use practically any mirror you hang on the wall so long as it does not distort their reflection and as long as it is cleaned.  People will also use lavatories that are years behind the times so long as the sinks and faucets are kept clean.  People will also use a trash can even if it is already filled to the brim with refuse—so long as whatever they are throwing away does not fall back on them.  Few users purposefully throw paper towels and other waste on the floor, but if these things fall out of the trash after they throw them away, they typically pretend to not notice this and simply leave the room.

On the other hand, people may turn right around and leave the restroom almost as soon as they enter it if your bathroom stalls have site lines between the doors and pilasters. Some site lines are as large as ½ inch wide, allowing a person to see into the stall even when the door is shut and locked from the inside.  These site lines can be eliminated by adding door jambs to pilasters so that light cannot travel through this gap and generate visibility.  Total privacy can be achieved by replacing 55 inch panels and doors with panels and doors that measure 72 inches in height.   Toilet compartments built with larger components do require some investment on your part.  However, if you have a limited budget that can only afford to partially upgrade your restroom interior, bathroom stalls are the best places to invest those funds because total privacy here ensures total comfort for your user regardless of the aesthetics of other restroom fixtures.

Toilet Paper Dispenser

November 6th, 2012 by
Share

Toilet paper dispensers fulfill the fundamental purpose of a restroom.  As such, they should offer configurations that fit both the traffic requirements and the floor plan of the bathroom.

In small restroom stalls, single and double spool paper dispensers are often the most convenient way to accessorize the stall interior.  Specific designs include single spools for very small restrooms in low traffic areas, double spools for employee restrooms in places such as small offices or retail stores, or quads that mount within the partition itself.  Paper is dispensed on either side of the partition, so the accessory services two users at a time.

Jumbo or double jumbo toilet paper dispensers are for high traffic areas.  We see these used a great deal in sports arena restrooms, lounge restrooms, airport restrooms, bus station restrooms, and subway restrooms.  Jumbo units house larger rolls of paper and contain these rolls within stainless steel housings.  This prevents toilet paper theft.  There are single roll units and double roll jumbo units.  In double roll units, when one roll is exhausted, the bottom access lever can be slid to the side to allow access to the second roll.

Controlled delivery toilet tissue dispensers are designed to minimize toilet tissue waste.  Institutions that prefer this type of accessory include detention centers, schools, and senior citizen homes.    Various models utilize a special design that features a spring that puts tension on the roll.  This, in turn, controls how much paper can be taken off of the roll at a time.

In upscale restrooms, facility managers can also install designer toilet tissue  dispensers.  The Diplomat series dispensers are vertical, stainless steel mounts with the toilet paper roll toward the bottom of the unit.  The dual-curve geometry of these models makes them more aesthetic, durable, and functional in the sense that paper can be dispensed without binding.  Other Diplomat accessories by Bradley can be installed throughout the bathroom to give it a unified, consistent décor.

Toilet paper dispensers come in a variety of mounting options.  Surface mounted units make remodeling easier and more cost effective.  Semi-recessed and recessed mountings allow for a variety of new construction and renovation options.  Partition mounted units and between partition mounts also allow dispensers to be adapted to any ADA compliant stall or toilet stall layout.

Building Swimming Pool Locker Rooms with Commercial Restroom Products

October 28th, 2012 by
Share

We think of a swimming pool locker room as a locker room without giving much thought to commercial restroom products.  After all, many of us grew up in a locker room where there was a shower, rows of lockers, and benches between the lockers.  If there was a restroom, it was very small or possibly even located in a separate, adjoining room.  In many cases toilet stalls are still segregated from shower and locker areas, but this is not an absolute rule in natatorium design.  Many new facilities, and especially smaller facilities in private clubs and spas, are now integrating locker areas, shower areas, and restroom areas all into a singular space.

In either scenario, XPB Locker Supply can help you with the design of your swimming pool locker room, along with the selection of the best commercial restroom products to affordably populate that design.  New partitions now allow group showers to be subdivided into individual shower stalls that provide each user with maximum privacy.  New plastic locker designs feature conservative width combined with exceptional interior vertical space that allows clothes to be neatly hung without wrinkling, and which keeps them dry and smelling fresh with ventilated exteriors.  Locker benches can also be installed to give users additional storage space for purses, watches, other jewelry, and smaller personal items.

Swimming pool locker rooms can be divided into shower areas and restroom areas by using the same types of partitions and other commercial restroom products configured in different ways.  ADA accessible toilet stalls and shower stalls can be positioned in layouts that best utilize existing floor space.  If wall space is limited, high-end hand wash fountains can be used to replace traditional lavatories.  Mounting options include corner wash fount units, wall-mounted units, and centrally mounted units.  ADA accessible options are available in all three mounting styles.

If wall space is sufficient enough for a lavatory installation, new multi-user commercial sinks such as the Bradley Frequency can be used to integrate multi-user functionality with superior handicapped accessibility—all within the confines of limited wall space.  Hand dryers eliminate the need for paper towel dispensers and prevent the problem of paper towel waste and abuse before it happens.  Toilet stalls can be accessorized with vandal resistant combination dispensers that combine various personal amenities into one or two basic fixtures that can be surface mounted or recessed mounted into partitions stalls.

Each swimming pool locker room is unique in size and floor plan. Specific commercial restroom products should be chosen after we help you finalize the design, assess your budget, and find the right product for each intended task.

Building Accessibility into Industrial Washroom Design

October 22nd, 2012 by
Share

What partitions material do you recommend for building accessibility into our industrial washroom design?

We recommend solid plastic.  Solid plastic has recently proven itself one of the best—if not the best—restroom partition materials to be used in the industrial world.  While solid plastic partitions are at the higher end of the cost scale, they are by no means the most expensive.  At the same time, they are possibly the easiest to customize and adapt to even the harshest of environments known to corrode inferior metals and delaminate partitions made by pressing an overlay onto a hard, central core.

Solid plastic is 100 percent moisture resistant as well, making it ideal for the construction of industrial showers that blend ADA accessibility with maximized comfort and exceptional amenities.

How can we possibly build shower stalls in our restrooms and have enough left over for accessible stalls, showers, and hand wash stations?

It is very simple.  You build shower stalls the same way you build toilet many of your stalls—with customized partitions.  You can build accessibility into industrial washroom design with a blended layout consisting of both shower stalls and toilet stalls composed of larger panels and doors.  With no site design, and with no gap between the bottom edge of the stall and the door, completely private enclosures can be created and accessorized with all the necessary products to create a fully accessible environment.  Examples include a variety of grab bars that can be fitted to interiors in a number of ways, mobile shower heads attached to flexible wall mounted individual showers, and shower seats that can be used by both disabled and able-bodied employees.

You may have to think beyond typical linear boundaries when building accessibility into industrial washroom design. Some restrooms may require ADA compliant stalls to be built along the far wall of the restroom, or along a section of the opposing wall.  We can help you with this if your current layout is too consuming of your existing square footage.

One of the best things about industrial showers that are built with ADA accessibility in mind is that they offer an exceptional level of comfort that any user will appreciate.

Do we need to install a central wash fountain that is ADA compliant?

If you have heavy duty hand washing needs, the typical answer is a surprising “no.”  Heavy duty handwashing requires a deep bowl design that is lacking in wash fountains built with accessibility specifically in mind.  Using a standard stainless steel wash fountain that can handle up to 8 users at a time is a better way to build accessibility into your overall industrial washroom design.  Accommodations for disabled users are more easily made by installing a Frequency 2 or 3 user deck with a lower end that accommodates wheelchair access with the best knee clearance of any lavatory system.

How Can You Improve Sanitation in a Hospital Bathroom?

October 18th, 2012 by
Share

The number one priority is to keep wastes off the floor as much as possible. Obviously, good trash disposal units are the primary receptacles used for this purpose.  However, an extra step that many medical facilities now take to make hospital bathrooms even safer is to install additional disposal units for sanitary napkins.  These new accessories can be mounted on partition walls or restroom walls.

It is also necessary to keep soap and water off the floor. A wet restroom floor is a serious trip hazard.  Even with only a little water or soap, it is easy for a user to seriously hurt himself or herself in a fall.  Using new lavatories like the Terreon Deep Well Lavatory can significantly improve the state of affairs.  Molded from a single piece of vandal-resistant, moisture resistant Terreon, this commercial health care sink is designed to contain water by means of a very deep bowl designed combined with an excellent drainage system.

The basin bottom is also built to curve toward the drain so water does not get trapped so easily at the basin. Basin ledges pitch forward way from the sink as well.  This further enables to lavatory to drain water quickly.  As a solid surface, also Terreon™, offers level of moisture resistance that not only make it resilient against any type of mold or mildew, but that also keeps it dry so that bacteria do not have a breeding ground in which to grow.

Touch free accessories are also another way to improve overall hygiene in hospital bathrooms. The one fixture that most people have handled in public restroom is the paper towel holder.  This is less than ideal, because it offers contagious agents to transfer from the hands of one user to another.  In the past, touch free, sensor controlled units were used to eliminate this problem.  However, the older models, made from plastic, will not hold up to heavy traffic as good as a stainless steel unit can.

Safety is also a consideration to take into account in the event that older accessories can break.  Sharp pieces of plastic are bad enough. Even worse are the shards of glass that result from broken restroom mirrors.  Our frameless model that is made from float glass minimizes the risks of broken glass.  Rather than fragmenting, float glass forms tiny crystalline beads that are far less hazardous and are also very easy to sweep off the hospital bathroom floor.
