LOL, someone is on an irate tear. I take it that you are rerfering to public junior and senior high schools in America? It has been quite awhile since I attended one but it seems almost like yesterday. I spent 2 years in public high school in CT after 2 years at an American Department of Defense high school, at R.A.F. Lakenheath, England. I was amazed at the liberties that "civilian" kids had smoking in the boys/girls lavatories even occasionally skipping class. We would never dare do that in D.O.D. schools.Kids will be kids. Give them an inch and they will take a mile. Is there even anything like a hall pass these days? I don't know.Blame the parents for the current problems. If I ever dared to get extremely out of line with a teacher (which I never did) my parents would have thanked the teacher who belted me.I enjoyed going to school and learning. I loved playing sports also. It was cool and the teachers were (for the most part) cool also.America hasn't gone to hell in a basket yet. There are plenty of bright, creative kids who will become excellent future leaders of America. Every generation goes through this. They're just different from the previous generations.I do like the requirement that some states have for passing an exam to attain a high school diploma. I've seen the exam for the State of Florida and am very certain that I could have passed that after 6th grade maybe younger and I'm far from a genius. The exam is far from difficult. Maybe the bell-shaped curve in America has shifted way to the left? Maybe not everyone is capable of earning a high school diploma? Should we keep lowering the standard? I don't think so.Don't dispare it's the same as it ever was but different.Cheer up.References :
