CBU mailboxes add value to both commercial and residential communities. Architects plan entire communities using these cluster mail boxes as central points of mail delivery and mail collection.
This saves great time for mail carriers in rural areas who would otherwise have to drive 4-12 miles in a circuit to each home in the community. Mail carrier vehicles use less fuel delivering mail in this fashion, and this is good for our environment.
It also allows all residents to have their mail delivered to their personal box at the same time of day, so they can pick it up when they choose.
Office buildings often prefer to use these pedestal-mounted units as USPS delivery stations because they are very economic space savers that are easy to install. In small apartment complexes as well, such as many that we see in California built around central courtyard and pools.
It is often to the advantage of the building owner to use a CBU mailbox for USPS mail service in order to avoid having to install recessed or surface mounted vertical mailboxes in very limited (or unavailable) wall space.
Apartments can place these mailboxes in all types of locations no matter how small the complex actually is. If the apartment is gated, there is no problem placing the mailbox just outside of the front entrance by the gate. Only residents with a key or gate card can enter the gate, and when they walk through it, they can pick up their mail.
Then again, many apartment owners who put a great deal of money into courtyard landscaping and pool maintenance often put the mailboxes in the center of the complex. The many different sizes and color options that building owners and architects can choose from allows for an accommodation of any type of architecture and landscape design.
CBU mailboxes are valued by both apartment buildings and office buildings for the security they offer the end user. Every person receives their own mailbox compartment key. While the compartments are all housed in a single unit shared by everyone, no one personís mail is accessible by another.
The locks on these boxes minimize the risk of identity theft and also protect the security of outgoing mail. Outgoing mail is placed in its own, locked slot that the mail carrier can unlock with a special key. Outgoing mail boxes are large enough to hold large volumes of mail so multiple residents can reliably use them.
While it has not been common for businesses to use CBU mailboxes for internal mail purposes, there is no reason why they cannot begin doing it now. If an office complex has a handful of suites that encircle an atrium or courtyard, the cluster mailbox can be used for internal mail just as it is in many small apartments surrounding a pool-courtyard area.
can be customized to accommodate specific needs. Parcel lockers come with each unit to fulfill USPS regulations and to convenience the end user. People much prefer to have packages placed in a secure box than to have them placed on the floor by the door.
Because these mailboxes are meant to stand for years outside, they are corrosion resistant thanks to a powder coat finish and very tough paint job that is available in a multitude of attractive color options.
