This plastic is tough and attractive and never needs painting.  In addition, the HDPE will resist dents and scratches. High density polyethylene is also impervious to moisture which makes them highly resistant to rust, mold, and mildew.  The construction method used on these lockers is an all welded method which provides a permanent and rigid framed unit.  It also means the lockers are shipped fully assembled. All of the hardware, such as hinges, is made from stainless steel which is also highly rust and corrosion resistant. The hardware is powder coated to provide additional rust and corrosion protection and to match the color selected for the locker.

The color options include beige, black, bronze, burgundy, buttermilk, canyon granite, charcoal gray, deep blue, desert stone, dove stone, gray, hunter, linen, moss, plum, sky blue, spice, starry night, and toffee. In addition, more environmentally focused lockers can be ordered that consist of one hundred percent post-consumer HDPE.  These lockers are offered in five colors which are black, beige, charcoal gray, moss, and toffee. All of the lockers are seventy-two inches in height but the width and depth can vary. Generally the smaller depths and widths are for smaller users such as children. The middle sizes are more appropriate for teen-agers and the larger sizes are for adults. The widths offered are twenty-four, thirty, and thirty six inches.  The depths offered are eighteen, twenty-one, and twenty-four inches.

The doors, cubby frames, sides, tops, bottoms, dividers, and shelves of the Lenox Solid Plastic Gear Lockers are all made from one half inch thick HDPE with a homogeneous color and a matte textured finish. Homogeneous color means that the color is present throughout the entire thickness of the material. Even if the HDPE is scratched or sanded it will retain its color. The HDPE plastic also has anti-graffiti properties. Markers and spray paint have very poor adhesion to the plastic and are therefore very easily removed with standard industrial cleaners. The locker frame is welded to the locker box and the top, bottom, divider and shelf are also welded the frame. This welding eliminates the need for metal fasteners or dovetail joints. In addition, the sides and back of the locker box are constructed from a single sheet of HDPE to eliminate joints.

A black polycarbonate double hook can be installed in the upper center portion of the locker back with stainless steel screws. The locker sides can be ordered with a machined cross-hatch pattern for ventilation. Coat rods are very popular and are constructed of one inch diameter stainless steel. The rod is mounted with stainless steel flanges and screws at the installation site. Additional wall hooks and custom logos machined into the back wall of the locker are also available.
