The most popular shower partitions are manufactured by
Bradley Corporation. These solid
plastic shower dividers are floor-mounted and overhead braced by an anti-grip
headrail. This mounting style
has demonstrated itself to be the most resilient in heavy traffic areas, and in
areas where frequent vandalism is known to occur. Its key advantage is its
adaptability. Because it does not
require a certain type of floor or ceiling, it can be installed in both new
constructions and restroom remodels.
Bradley BradmarĀ® shower
dividers are constructed of a single piece of one inch thick HDPE
plastic (high density polyethylene resin that is compacted under extreme
pressures to create a contiguous plastic panel, pilaster, or door). HDPE is non-absorbent, making it
waterproof in damp environments.
Its unique constitution self lubricates the outer surface. There is also a protective coating
installed prior to shipping which makes shower partitions resistant to ink and
graphite. Solid plastic is also a
highly attractive material because it is available in so many colors that
compliment a wide range of interior design aesthetics. The color is blended throughout the HDPE
itself; it is not painted on and will not need repainting at any
time.
Now the standard height of these panels and
doors measures 55 inches high. This
is the normal size for toilet
partitions in commercial restrooms and public
restrooms. However, this is
not the ideal height for a shower partition because it leaves a 12 inch gap
between the floor and the bottom of the stall. A much more private enclosure can be
constructed using 72 inch high panels and doors. Doors are predrilled to accommodate
integral hinges that can be adjusted to close the door flush with the panel and
so that there is no site line between the door and the panel. Users of XPB Locker shower stalls enjoy
a completely enclosed space blocked off from the outside world.
Shower stall hardware is made from heavy
duty aluminum, and pilaster shoes are made from stainless steels. Plastic pilaster shoes can also be
ordered with certain colors.
Other hardware components, such as the door hinge system, door latches,
side bolts, and brackets are made from stainless steel or heavy duty
aluminum. Some color options
also allow for plastic brackets.
Since many architects and contractors often request continuity of
material, XPB Locker Supply now upgrades hardware assemblies upon
request. Clients can specify if
they want heavy duty aluminum hardware or stainless steel hardware.
Shower
partitions can also be fitted with ADA doors that have individual coat
hooks, along with a bumper and door pull. Standard doors swing outward. Many organizations on a budget choose to
forego the door assembly and install a shower curtain instead. If you feel this is the most cost
effective approach to building your showers, please specify this in your
order. Shower accessories, such as
towel racks, towel hooks, and soap dishes, can be installed on the interiors of
the enclosures. Various individual
shower heads and wall shower assemblies can be installed within the interior of
the dividers.
