These designs utilize a cabinet that is installed within a wall opening and will fit between standard 16 inch wall studs. The primary advantage is that it saves space in crowded working environments. The entire unit is hidden by a stainless steel door and when the door is pulled down the eyewash or flushing begins. The door will collect the waste water and funnel it into the drain. These eyewash units can operate with water pressures between 30 and 90 pounds per square inch. These cabinet wall units fully comply with all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines regarding reaches, clearances and operating procedures.
Wall Mounted Eye Wash Stations have a number of optional features. Some newer designs utilize four sprayheads rather than two, although two is satisfactory. The design goal with four sprayheads is to deliver a flood of water very quickly over the widest possible area of the face. Many sprayhead dust covers are plastic but stainless steel dust covers are more durable and available as an option. Some of the eye wash stations can be ordered with an auxiliary hand held hose for rinsing the face and the body. And some eye wash stations can deliver water at an ideal temperature by incorporating a thermostatic mixing valve in the design. This valve mixes the hot and cold water to provide a temperature referred to as tepid.
