Outdoor Barbeque Grill Design

Your choice of an outdoor barbeque grill design needs to be guided by practicality.  The grill needs to be tough enough to withstand environmental stress, possibly harmful agents in the atmosphere, and normal wear and tear. 

In some cases it needs to be vandal and theft resistant too.  Certain environments, like those close to the sea, or those that are close to factories, may have salt or pollution in the air that the grill must be designed to withstand.

You also need to base your choice for an outdoor barbeque grill design on user friendliness and safety.  How much expertise do you need in outdoor cooking to use a particular model?  Is there a risk of a stray ember causing a disastrous fire?  Are there lots of children around, and could a child accidentally run into the grill and get burned?

The pedestal mount makes it difficult, if not impossible, for the average thief to remove the unit from the ground.

Getting the temperature just right on an open grill is something that requires outdoor cooking experience.  Generally, those who cook outdoors every weekend have an easier time using this design.

But what about those of us who cook outdoors only occasionally?  Are we going to fight with those coals all day, or are we going to have some fun?

A closed outdoor barbeque grill design is much more user friendly for the occasional cook because the lid, when closed, traps heat inside the unit.  Four air vents, along with 360 degree rotational capability, makes it easy for even a novice to get the temperature just right. 

When the unit is closed, the black enamel coating minimizes heat transfer to the outside of the unit.  This is not to say the unit stays cold.  You don’t want to lean on it, obviously.  However, an accidental touch to this model is less likely to burn the skin than an accidental touch to an open unit. 

Since the coals and heat are trapped inside, this design is much safer to use around children and in dry areas where fire could break out quickly. 

Also, you don’t have to close the lid.  So, if you are an expert barbeque chef, and absolutely must cook over an open heat source, you can always leave the lid up as long as it is safe to do so.
