• Inmates have historically hung themselves with any piece of rope they can find, or with bed sheets. 
• Some inmates have cut their wrists on sharp edges of metal objects
• Other inmates broke off these sharp objects and made weapons.
• Still other inmates vandalized cells by ripping sinks and toilets from walls.
• Stopping up sinks and toilets and flooding cells was another form of vandalism that often was a distraction to guards.  Riots often began in this fashion.
