Facilities that use plastic coated steel benches include, but are not limited to, corporations, public schools, municipal parks, and restaurants. The difference lies in design style and what works best for a specific environment.  The curved rod bench has pronounced rolled ends that function as arm rests.  It features a basic, traditional mesh seat and back made from a single piece of metal coated with plastic.  The laser cut model features rolled arm rests that appear slightly less pronounced.  It too features single piece construction of the bench and back rest.  The mesh is very unique, however, because it is cut into a very contemporary pattern with a laser.

Plastic coated steel benches measure either four feet or six feet in length. 9 color choices allow facilities to match them to both natural environments and to various types of building architecture.  Benches can surface mount to concrete or mount directly into the ground.  This allows various facilities to position them in locations that are shaded so that the costs associated with building shaded structures can be curtailed.

We see a great deal of this in the corporate world. Many companies have a transit stop area where shuttles, carpools, and buses stop to transport employees.  The cost of transit bus shelters is very high, so metal benches with plastic coatings offer a much more economical alternative to waiting passengers.  It could be argued as well that the single piece construction of the bench and back rest, combined with the rounded armrest design, is much more ergonomic than those narrow seats we see in so many bus shelters.

Schools like to mount these benches in student pickup areas to encourage students to remain seated until their rides arise. This helps with crowd control and student discipline.

Another vertical market that seems to really like our plastic coated steel benches is the restaurant industry. Many restaurants have waiting areas, patios, or both.  Mounting metal benches with plastic coating either outside the door, or in some cases, inside the door, gives patrons a comfortable alternative to standing as they wait for tables to become available, or for loved ones to arrive.
