You may notice in the daily use of different restroom facilities that not all bathroom partitions are mounted in the same way. Depending on a variety of circumstances such as the construction method of the restroom, the stability needs of the restroom stall partitions, and the cost of the project, there are four configuration types that exist. These types are Overhead Braced, Floor Anchored, Ceiling Hung, and Floor to Ceiling configurations.

Each of the four mounting types has its own set of advantages, but with Floor to Ceiling configurations, the reigning benefit is stability and durability. This is because the pilasters that are located between each stall door are anchored at both the floor and at the ceiling, occupying the entire height of the bathroom space. In the case of slips, falls, general carelessness or even abuse due to deliberate acts of vandalism, Floor to Ceiling restroom stall partitions will withstand a considerable amount of force, thanks to the double reinforcement at both ends of each pilaster. For this reason, they can withstand heavy use that is associated with high-traffic facilities.

Floor to Ceiling restroom stall partitions can be used in restrooms with a maximum ceiling height of ten feet. Hardware at the floor end of the pilaster requires a minimum 3” structural concrete floor for anchoring. To appropriately anchor the ceiling end of the pilaster, structural members in the ceiling are necessary as well. Several buildings meeting these construction conditions would be better-suited than others for Floor to Ceiling restroom partitions.

For all the above benefits—stability, and durability in high-traffic and vandalism-prone buildings—schools would benefit from Floor to Ceiling restroom stall partitions. Children and young adults tend to be unruly and careless, especially in larger groups that can’t be easily monitored. Floor to Ceiling restroom partitions would withstand physical impacts experienced in a school setting, like slamming doors or bumping and leaning into partition walls.

Hospitals are heavily-populated buildings which see people of all ages and degrees of infirmity. These are locations where extra stability is a concern, for the safety of the user as well as the longevity of the partition. Bars and taverns are also a possibility for Floor to Ceiling mounting configurations. In businesses that mainly sell alcohol, patrons can become physically reckless as judgment is impaired and motor skills are affected. Other high-traffic applications of this mounting type could include arenas and stadiums, or large-scale shopping centers.

Commercial Restroom Partitions offers a Floor to Ceiling option with a few restroom stall partitions available. These include Stainless Steel, Powder Coated Steel, Compact Laminate/Solid Phenolic Core, Solid Plastic, and Solid Color Reinforced Composite restroom partitions.
