The Commercial Grade Radial Edge Picnic Tables feature perforated seats and table tops on staggered centers with rounded corners for safety and style. They are constructed of eleven gauge heavy duty steel and may be mounted on the surface or in-ground. The understructure is built from two inch tubular steel.  The table tops and seats are available in sixteen different colors to match to a wide variety of color schemes. There are four lengths available, which are four, six, eight and ten foot lengths. The history of Radial Edge Picnic Tables begins with the history of the picnic. In the 1600s the French organized outings where each person would bring a dish for all to share.  This potluck outing was called ‘piquenique’ in French and the English translated it to ‘picnic’ in the mid 1700s. Around 1800 the word picnic  was incorporated into the English language.  Later, during the 19th century, the concept of an outdoor picnic traveled to America. A picnic was commonly understood to be a casual meal enjoyed by a group in an outdoor setting. The early outdoor picnic tables were made of wood and were simply modified tables with built-in picnic benches on both sides of the table. They were made for eating a meal outdoors.  Food was placed on the table top and the bottom platform was reserved for seating.  The design of the picnic table has not changed much over the years but the materials used now include plastic, recycled plastic, PVC, aluminum, and steel.  They are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. One of the most important features of Radial Edge Picnic Tables is its powder coated thermoplastic finish.  This finish provides the base metal an extremely durable coating or shield from corrosion, rust, and the elements.  It is far superior to a conventional paint covering. The dry free-flowing powder and the metal base are given opposite charges during the application process. The result is that the powder forms an exceptionally strong bond with the metal.  The coating is then heated or cured to form a very uniform, smooth “skin” that covers and protects the base metal for decades.  The tubular understructure is coated in black and the table top and seats can be one of sixteen different colors.  An additional benefit of this thermoplastic finish is that spray-painted graffiti can be easily removed.  There is virtually no maintenance required with this thermoplastic finish.
