Beach Showers

Beach showers are used in public recreation areas where people swim, play sports, or enjoy the outdoors. As their name indicates, they are obviously popular in beach areas. Other organizations that use them include sports facilities, campgrounds, and public parks.

They are used to wash off after a day of activity so sweat, sand, salt, and other natural contaminants are not brought into indoor areas. Public outdoor swimming pools also use them. Grasses and sunscreen lotion are technically contaminates that need to be rinsed off before people get into the water with other swimmers.

Beach showers are freestanding models that consist of a stainless steel column anchored to the floor by means of a cast iron drain. Other models, particularly those in very humid atmospheres with high salt content, or even industrial pollutants near beach areas, are made with heavy gauge steel that is protected by a powder coat finish.

In outdoor areas, these showers can be installed by laying a concrete floor first, then placing the cast iron drain into the wet concrete pit.

Organizations can choose models that service anywhere from 1 to 6 users at a time. Using a model with 6 shower heads that draws from a single water supply greatly reduces construction and installation costs. The shower columns ship preassembled and features easy access for plumbing maintenance.

In fact, it is possible in most cases to by-pass any worn pipes and valves when installing beach showers and save a good deal of money on plumbing repairs that would otherwise have to be done prior to installation. Beach showers are considered group showers and do not have individual stalls. They offer cold water only, which is appropriate to the warm environments for which they are designed. and feature foot wash mechanisms that allow the lower legs and feet can be rinsed of sand, debris, grass, and other possible contagions prior to changing into day clothing or entering a public building.

Most models are preset to a maximum water flow rate of 2 and one-half gallons per minute to save on cost of operation, although some can be adjusted by the user to suit personal needs. Beach showers are manufactured with brass valves to ensure corrosion resistance in outdoor environments.
