Lavatory Systems for School Bathrooms

Bathroom-School-LavatoriesChoosing a bathroom  lavatory for your school requires as much attention to cost-effectiveness as it does functionality. And with the right fixtures, the two go hand in hand. They’re a big investment, but they are worth every penny in the long run. Planning wisely will help keep students healthier, maintenance costs lower, and leave replacement an issue that you won’t have to think about for many years.School-Bathroom-Lavatories

It’s no surprise that germs and viruses can spread throughout  schools quickly. Health specialists say cold viruses take hold when a child touches her eyes or nose after coming in contact with the virus. And only about half of school children actually wash their hands after visiting the restroom. Improving convenience can help with that problem.

When washing hands is easier, children may be more inclined to make the effort. Multi-user wash stations, such as the Express® Lavatory MG3, can combine ADA compliance, touch-free operation, and water conservation in one attractive, vandal-resistant unit. Combined with an on-demand, tankless water heater, they save energy, too.

ADA Commercial Lavatories

Wheelchair-Accessible-Commercial-LavatoriesSpace is the essential issue confronting a wheelchair user when attempting to wash their hands.ADA-Accessible-Lavatories A common lavatory sink and vanity doesn’t give space underneath the sink for a wheelchair user’s feet and legs. The available arrangement is to clear the area beneath the sink to give room.

The most direct solution is to install a wall hung ADA Lavatory. There are various sinks available that are intended for wheelchair availability. These sinks are typically shallower front to back and the drains are located at the back of the sink, closer to the wall. This shape gives freedom to knees so a wheelchair can get close enough to use the sink without any struggles. Medical Plumbing Equipment and Design Accessories

patient-care-lavatory-water-closet-LC750What products distinguish you from other medical plumbing companies?

The most important products we sell for patient care are water closets. These lavatory-toilet combination units add measurable improvements to both patient restrooms and patient rooms as a whole. Because the toilets are stored within the cabinets whenever they are not in use, waste, odor, and bacteria are trapped behind closed doors. Patients feel much better when they use an attractive restroom that smells fresh, where the lavatory is right at their fingertips, and a retrievable, accessible toilet is easily manipulated while in use. Certain water closet models are also designed to accommodate the professional needs of health care providers. These units offer extra storage capacity and built-in bed pan washers. From a hygienic perspective, the difference is undeniably better compared to standard porcelain toilets that are open to the air throughout the day.

What type of medical plumbing fixtures do you sell?

We sell water closets, deep bowl lavatories, anti-ligature lavatories, and a number of anti-ligature panel showers. Most of these products are specifically intended for restrooms located in patient rooms. However, the anti-ligature lavatories and anti-ligature showers can also be installed in any ward that requires high security measures for persons facing criminal charges, or for patients suffering from mental affliction. The deep bowl lavatories are also used in intensive care units because they effectively keep water from overflowing onto the floor during high traffic periods of heavy duty hand washing.

Do you offer any design services?

Yes. In addition to medical plumbing equipment, we will help you design and accessorize your patient restroom. We have needle disposal units, bed pan holders, specimen pass through cabinets, and bed pan storage cabinets. If you have limited space, we can help you find the best locations for these accessories so they are easily within reach of health care staff. Furthermore, we also offer design assistance for patient shower rooms. Not only do we have a number of anti-ligature panel shower options, but we also supply partitions that can be used to build individual stalls. Various privacy options ranging from no door, shower curtain, shower stall door, and no-site shower stalls for total privacy can be balanced against any patient supervision needs a particular ward may require.

Application Suggestions for Bathroom Lavatories

July 6th, 2012 by

What bathroom lavatories do you recommend for heavy traffic restrooms?

The Express line by Bradley Corporation is specifically designed to accommodate multiple users.  The design of the bowl ensures that up to three users per sink can stand at the lavatory without crowding one another.  Each user has access to a personal station so he or she does not have to stand in line to use the sink.  Express systems are highly vandal resistant as well, being made from Terreon®, which is chemical, burn, scratch, and impact resistant.

There are also three station Frequency lavatories which offer the very best accessibility to wheelchair bound users.  These sinks can also be configured for up to 3 users at a time.  The choice between these two lines should be based on the amount of accessibility regulations that apply to a given part of the country, and, of course, on the level of comfort and convenience needed by handicapped users of the facility.

How many stations does a bathroom lavatory in an office building need?

In an office environment, people are working most of the time.  Even before and after lunch, restroom traffic will not be as high as large public centers for sports and transportation.  Consequently, facility managers can invest in single user or double user stations.  There are many unique designs from which to choose that will compliment any number of formal and contemporary architectural styles.

What lavatory systems work well with contemporary design?

We have had a lot of compliments on the Verge line of commercial restroom sinks.  Verge systems are simple, rectilinear, and feature a nice color selection that favors most modern and interior decors.  We also recommend looking at the Express Crescent series.  This single user station is ideal for ultra contemporary designs in new office buildings.  It is a good space saver and water saver, and it can be configured for 1 or 2 users at a time.

What is the most environmentally friendly substance used to make Bradley bathroom lavatories?

There are two equally green materials used to make Bradley lavatory systems.  One is Evero™, a material made from natural quartz.  Evero™ systems are seamless, single mold units that are exceptionally easy to keep clean.  There is also the highly popular Terreon®, which is a solid surface material made from recycled ingredients.  It is both highly sanitary and powerfully impact resistant.  Sinks made of both materials are GREENGUARD certified.

Trough Sinks

May 23rd, 2012 by
Share

Trough sinks feature a deep, linear wash basin (hence the term “trough”) and multiple stations designed to accommodate several users at a time. The location of each user station is determined by the position of each faucet without the need for separating partitions.  Different sizes, material builds, and lavatory designs allow industries of any kind to make the maximum use of limited space to service as many persons at a time as is feasible, hygienic, and safe.

In addition to multiuser convenience, architects, contractors, and facility managers often choose trough sinks because they are remarkably efficient at saving water. Dividing a single water source into multiple stations is far more cost effective than linking each individual station to its own separate water supply.  Various water metering controls are built into a number of our models that further regulate the flow of water and shut off the water after a set number of seconds to prevent vandals from leaving the faucets on indefinitely.

Many different types of facilities and industries find that the best blend of functionality and aesthetics can be found in either the Verge line of products or the Express line of products. Both product lines are characterized by unique, and highly attractive, material builds.  These materials feature a hygienic quality that is on par with that of traditional stainless steel.  They also feature, however, additional advantages over stainless steel.  They offer a full range of color choices, and they are highly resistant to damage and vandalism.  Even if damaged, they are easy and cost effective to repair.

Airports, civic centers, museums, schools, libraries, and a host of commercial office centers have enjoyed great success with this new generation of trough sinks that not only function at an exceptional level of performance, but also compliment the gamut of interior decors ranging from the traditional to the formal to the ultra contemporary.

Utilitarian facilities where practicality takes priority over image often prefer to stick with traditional stainless steel trough sinks. Many sports arenas and facilities that host any number of outdoor gatherings will have restrooms that are designed to service as many people as possible at the same time.  Island sinks are best for restrooms with limited wall space and plenty of floor space in which to install a central hand washing station.  Wall mounted multiuser sinks are designed for the same purpose, but work better in narrower restrooms where there is more wall space than floor space.

Rectangular Bowl Bradley OmniDeck™ Hand Washing Systems

September 15th, 2011 by
Share

Bradley OmniDeck™ hand washing systems with rectangular bowls are utilitarian, compact, environmentally sound, ergonomic, and economical.  They make great additions to any modern or contemporary style restroom.  They offer minimal installation cost and minimal ongoing maintenance to any facility looking that seeks to look its best without complication or excessive expenditure.

Applications range from the commercial to the industrial to the service and hospitality industries.  More buildings are being built with modern and contemporary style architecture.  This includes many industrial facilities as well as small, medium, and large office buildings.

Contemporary and modern styles feature a minimalism that is highly economical because it saves on space.  This economy is contingent, however, on construction materials and fixtures that are cost effective to install and maintain.

Bradley OmniDeck™ hand washing systems with rectangular bowls offer an integral deck design where all fixtures and accessories can be custom built into the fixture.  This is a value-added space saver that contributes to the often Spartan minimalism that characterizes these new build-outs and simultaneously meets user needs at a new point of all-in-one convenience.

Certain attributes of Bradley OmniDeck™ hand washing systems with rectangular bowls also make them ideal for restaurant restrooms.  Because of the malleability of Terreon® at the factory level, these deck lavs can be manufactured without the seams and adhesives used to build larger, more complicated assemblies.  Resultantly, there are fewer crevices in which grime, mildew, and bacteria can buildup.

Just one example of this is the coved, seamless backsplash design that features a smooth, curved surface that blocks the accumulation of foreign material and grime.

Add to that the innately nonporous nature of the surface material, and you have a commercial washroom fixture that is naturally resistant to condensation, moisture buildup, dirt, and germs.  Food service businesses can count on these fixtures remaining clean and passing health inspection checks.

Bradley OmniDeck™ hand washing system with rectangular bowl is also an ideal choice for hotel restroom design.  The high-grade look of the material, along with the multitude of color choices, can compliment both simple and luxury themes.  At the same time, the higher level of environmental soundness and hygiene make it more suitable for high traffic areas where looks and cleanliness make strong impressions that can influence repeat business for the better.

Rectangular bowls can be integral to the Bradley OmniDeck™ hand washing system or they can be custom bowl cutouts.  Edges can be roundover or beveled.

Commercial Bathroom Lavatory Systems for Hotel Restroom Design

April 5th, 2011 by

ADA compliance Lavatory Systems is a crucial factor hotel design.

Providing people who are physically challenged is both legal and ethical.

Bradley commercial bathroom lavatory systems are usually either made ADA and TAS compliant or they can be configured with barrier-free clearances, reaches, and controls.

You can choose from a number of models, ranging from the basic to the luxurious in hotel restroom design.

The next thing a hotel restroom design must do is actually appeal to its guests.

As simple as it may sound, guests want commercial bathroom lavatory systems that look good. You can provide for this by investing in superior materials that can take heavy traffic and look appealing to the eye.

This is what you get when you invest in products made from Terreon®. On an aesthetic level, Terreon looks similar to stone. However, it is actually a high grade solid surface material. shares some of the same qualities of high-grade polished stone. However, it is not stone. It is a high-grade solid surface material that can be ordered in any number of colors ranging from basics like white, black, and graphite to new contemporary shades like lannonstone, blue sky, and peppered white.

Terreon is also extremely vandal resistant. You can count on it to last for decades. Countertop and bowl designs are molded to trap soap and water in the sink area while it is being cleaned. This keeps water off the floor and keeps the restroom safer and cleaner as a result.

Bradley commercial bathroom lavatory systems are also nonporous and therefore a highly sanitary line item for any hotel restroom design. Bacteria have a hard time colonizing a surface that cannot absorb water. This reduces transfer of pathogens. It also keeps the bowl from getting stained by substances that people wash off their hands.

Water conservation is another matter of vital importance to hotel restroom design. Regardless of any plans as to whether or not you will pursue a LEED certification for the building, it is always good to be proactive about managing the costs of water expenditures. Water resources are under ever increasing scrutiny, so it is wise to be as conservative with the amount of water passing through the system.

Commercial bathroom lavatory systems regulate water flow and can also be ordered with infrared, no-touch faucets. These controls are also vandal resistant measures because they automatically shut the water off after 30-45 seconds of flow. Most systems will also limit water flow to .5 GMP in order to comply with the guidelines of the Department of Energy Conservation.
