Even in our modern age obsessed with metal and plastic, wood benches are still in high demand in certain places where nothing but wooden furniture looks truly complementary to a natural scene.

One application where they have readily found a home is in historical restoration projects. Central town squares are being renovated all over the country and made to look they did in the 19^th and 20^th centuries. Wooden benches add a truly authentic look to the scene wherever they are placed because they very closely approximate seating that was used during simpler, more rustic times in our past.

It also goes without saying that wood benches are good for any park. They naturally complement trees and natural vegetation. In parks where a fee is charged for entrance, they also provide a key attraction factor that brings in a tangible return on investment.

Wood benches characterized by a superior level of craftsmanship are also used in theme parks with a nature oriented purpose. Zoo and wildlife parks are two good examples of settings where a very pristine environment must be maintained to keep resident animals calm in what feels like a natural environment to their senses. Wooden furniture blends in here just like it would in a public or state park. If the wood is properly treated, it will also endure the elements quite well.

Wood benches are a great alternative to concrete benches for organizations who have grown tired of replacing expensive concrete benches that have been destroyed by vandals.

Concrete doesn’t just break when it is vandalized. It falls into piles of rubble. Wood, while not impervious to vandalism by any stretch of the imagination, nevertheless will leave less of a mess if someone does deliberately destroy them. Because wood is fibrous, it breaks and splinters around the point of impact trauma rather than falling into pieces everywhere.

Roadside parks and scenic overlooks that have been destroyed by vandals can now be refurbished with wood benches that looks even more appropriately matched to scenic settings. This is not to say that in areas of high vandalism that wooden materials will never have to be replaced themselves.

What is to be said is the simple fact that repairs to wooden facilities are much less expensive for government agencies that replacement of multiple pieces of expensive outdoor concrete furniture which can be broken with a large rock with a single blow.
