ADA approved restroom partitions configuration allow us to enhance privacy and provide better accommodation for physically disabled persons.  Newer lines of public restroom partitions can also be mounted in a variety of mounting styles that make better use of space.  New manufacturing advances now also enable us to create public restroom stalls that are as private as residential restrooms in personal homes.

With  European style public restroom partitions, we can create completely enclosed spaces for the first time in commercial restroom design history.  These panels and doors are taller than standard equivalents. Continuous hinges completely block the gap between the door and the pilaster.

Stalls constructed from these components have a 4 5/16 inch floor clearance.  This is just enough space for wheelchair foot movement, but it is far less than the 12 inch floor clearance that has been standard for so many years.

New materials also open new doors to cost savings on both the front-end and the back-end of construction projects.  It was not all that long ago that public restroom partitions were made from painted wood. New manufacturing techniques now allow American owned companies to produce panels, pilasters, and doors from a variety of new materials.  Many of these materials are becoming more affordable in cost, which in turn allows for greater innovation in design and installation.

Perhaps one of the most important manufacturing breakthroughs we have seen in the past few years is the emergence of completely waterproof public restroom partitions.  The importance of this cannot be understated. When we consider that moisture not only causes wood to rot, but also causes rust, we quickly realize that wood and metal restroom stalls will last only for a period of time.  However, substances like phenolic and solid plastic, which do not require painting, and which to not absorb moisture, allow us to build restroom stalls that can last for well over a decade without losing their functionality or their aesthetic appeal.

This allows us to save building owners thousands of dollars in repair and replacement costs.  It also creates a cleaner, more comfortable restroom for the public.

Metal has not been completely abandoned, however.  The classic elegance of stainless steel partitions continues to make it the preferred partition material in Class A office buildings, luxury hotels, and high-end restaurants.  Newer, superior grades of stainless steel have made it possible to manufacture public restroom partitions that resist corrosion and retain their luster for longer periods of time than were common in the past.
