Column Showers Improve Warehouse Design
Employees who work in warehouses often need to shower at the end of the day because they handle dangerous materials during their shift. Including showers in any warehouse design will add a preventative safety mechanism that can save an organization a tremendous amount of money that would otherwise be lost to work related illness. We recommend column showers for this purpose because they save time and money on installation costs.
These multi-user showers also save warehouses a lot of of space regardless of how they are installed.
Space saving is very important to warehouse design. Because the majority of the building must be used for shipping, receiving, and storage, other areas must be smaller. Space devoted to group showers must use only a marginal amount of the overall building area to be truly efficient..
Column showers do this better than any other type of industrial shower used in warehouse design. They have such a simple design, really, consisting of nothing more than a column that pipes water to multiple shower heads. You can have as many as six shower heads on one column, all linked to a single water source. You can also add privacy partitions to the configuration.
The simplicity of the column shower allows you to mount it several ways. One way is to install the showers in the center of a special shower room. Install partitions between the heads, and you have a multiuser central shower facility complete with shower stalls.
This mounting option is most efficient in larger warehouse designs that have available rooms to devote to men’s and women’s showers. In smaller warehouses, it is often more convenient to mount showers in restrooms by installing the column along an empty portion of the wall and connecting it to a water source. You can do this and still use privacy partitions.
In warehouse designs involving a remodel, this may be a much more practical way to mount column showers because it does not cutting into the floor to get to the plumbing. You can go in through the wall for much less time, labor and money.
Regardless of how you ultimately configure them, the column showers themselves are easy to install. They arrive preassembled, and regardless of how they are mounted, require only a single access point to the water supply. The most important decision, then, is figure out how best to mount them in regards to balancing floor space with cost of labor involved in installation.
