Is it necessary to build a commercial shower stall for maximum privacy?
Yes. If you only install the bare minimum shower fixtures and shower accessories, you leave what is normally considered very private space open to the rest of the room. Many people simply do not feel comfortable with this level of openness and will avoid taking a shower in a public gym, place of work, or industrial facility.
Making showers more personable, individualized, and genuinely private will encourage users to shower as directed by the organization. In work environments, this helps improve employee morale. In public recreational facilities, it results in a cleaner facility. In certain industrial environments, too, showering at work improves the health and safety of the worker by removing toxic agents that buildup on the skin.
What are the best dividers and shower curtains to use in building commercial shower stalls?
We recommend that you use partitions that are manufactured to stand at a greater height than standard toilet partitions. We also recommend that you try to use shower doors rather than shower curtains. People feel much more enclosed and secure when they can close a physical door behind them and lock it from within.
Solid plastic has proven itself the most impervious material to moisture resistance. It is extremely durable and highly decorative as well. Shower partitions that are made from solid plastic measure 72” tall and eliminate the 12” gap that is commonly seen beneath overhead braced 52” toilet partitions. This creates the equivalent of a private wall on either side of the user. Shower partition doors also measure 72” in height so that there will be no gap along the floor in the front of the stall.
Is it possible to build a commercial shower stall that is as private as a home shower?
Yes. The most common breach of privacy in any partition layout is the site line that is created by a gap between the edge of the partition panel and the closed door. Some of these gaps can be uncomfortably large so that people feel their privacy has been breached even with the door closed and locked. New partition hardware and designs have now emerged to close this gap. This new design is called “no-site” and means exactly what it says. You do not have to do any special configuration of the stall during installation. We provide you with the appropriate hardware to assembly a shower enclosure with no-site maximum privacy.
